Has anyone changed the front rotor on their S2 to the updated one? I want to upgrade my s2 to the newest style rotor & I have the PM caliper. WHat do I need to do as far as fitment? shims? compatability? are the brake pads the same? will I have an issue finding pads to fit? would i be better off leaving all the same and keeping the front rotor? any info on this topic is appreciated... jason |

Al at AmericanSportBike is your best bud on this. Call or email him, let him know what kind of riding you do, and he'll recommend the best pads to get. Might want to consider the caliper rebuild kit, as well - something I prolly shoulda done while I had everything apart. |

Rotor bolts right on ... after you've managed to take off the original one. Those bolts can be a bear. Had tons of "fun" with that myself Ended up having nuts welded onto the bolts to get enough grip/torque on them to get them loose. The heat from the helping no doubt helped loosen things up as well. Stock pads won't work well on the new stainless rotor - too soft I believe. Philly is right on, Al at American Sport Bike with set you up with the right pads for your type of riding. I had to shim my rotor with some thin washers... But I have seen this happen when using the older style rotors as well. Before you put the pads in the caliper check it out with the front tire raised where it can turn freely |

If you need *really* thin washers, soda can metal works well. Henrik |

Jason, Which rotor do you have? Is it a six or nine bolt? If it's a nine, I may be interested in your old one. I don't care if it's warped.. Brad |
