Ok, Not long ago I took a ride ~200mi and ended up arriving at my destination at night. The next morning I roll it out of the garage and inspect things and notice that there's a long strand of string wrapped around my rear axle and some smaller threads tangled here and there in the area of my belt guard. So I pull them off and notice that my belt is half the width it's supposed to be! There's also some black dust clumps caked to my rear spokes which I can only assume came from the belt when part of it disintegrated. Looking at the belt it appeared that the inside half tore away or something then the remainder of the belt worked itself all the way inward. Not wanting to drive back 200mi with half a belt, I limped to the nearest Buell dealership 20mi away. Upon arrival I inspected it again and noticed no change in the belt's ragged state. Just from reading here I know there are problems with the '03 Buell belts. I have an '04 xb12s, so those issues shouldn't apply to me right? Has anyone heard of a belt splitting lengthwise? Btw, that trip was over Memorial Day weekend and I'm still waiting for my bike... The belt got back ordered I guess. They're going to try and get one from Appleton HD or some other place and get it put on this weekend. Hard to believe not a single Buell dealership in the whole of MN wouldn't have a replacement belt in stock! |

It sickens me how the HD/Buell dealers do not have these types of parts in stock... I ran into the same issues with shift levers/clutch levers, pegs etc. These same dealers have about 300 different types of HD pegs/clutch levers etc. displayed all over the wall. |

Creepy! I never heard of a belt doing that. I'm glad that it didn't strand you somewhere. |
