xbr9 shoots a roostertail that lands on your back and dribbles down your butt!

I don't know about the SS, but I rode a couple hundred miles in the rain on my 12S, and it was pretty wet, both coming from the front and the back. I still have the stock cheese grater on mine and it did kick some water up, not as bad as Yeags with his R though. There isn't a lot of protection up front, so road spray can be a bit of an issue. Although once it started hailing I didn't mind the rain so much : )

I rode the XB12S 400 miles in a continuous rain, during a 1350 mile weekend ride. (Cortech saddlebags turned out to be great water reservoirs) Rain gear is nice to have along.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I do the 250 mile ride to Lake George (and the 250 mile ride back home tomorrow night)...

jaimec. I live about 100 miles from lake george and have been contemplating going up. Been trying to make it for the last 2 days, but the weather has been less then cooperative. Probably going to make a run at it tomorrow, unless doppler shows a BAS (Big A** Storm) sitting over Americade.

We rode 16 straight hours in the rain out of our 28 hour 1600 mile iron butt run last summer ...Good rain gear makes a huge difference..

I rode my 12ss in the rain for about 300 miles in March and I got soaked, I had crappy rain gear though. My feet also got really wet and I was wearing boots. Make sure you have good gear and bring any extra that you can and you should be fine. I did notice there seemed to be more spray off the road and less protection than other bikes I have been on in the rain. Otherwise she was great! The only thing I was nervous about (other than the idiots in the cars around me) was all the power at the wheel in those low speed corners. Stay off the painted lines!!!

Amen to that Soggycal! My brother just put his bike down in the rain whilst going over a painted cross walk. I always thought those lines were suppose to be grippy but noooo.
I have good (ok) rain gear but still get wet.. gotta ride though.

Riding in the rain sucks, only because of how hard it is to clean the bike after.

Road grim in the cooling fan/oil cooler is enough to make you nuts.
