good dinner at the appleton dealership Friday night, then over to TGIF till about 12:30 am. we left appleton buell today at 9 am and made it to the track around 10:15. Free buell shirts at the demo truck. nice tent, sodas, water, and snacks. rode a uly twice. Nice bike. smooth, really soaks up the bumps. went over to revolution perfomance for tour. quite impressive shop. neat stuff. he does a lot of snow mobile stuff. Free shirt. back to the track. superbike okay, kind of boring. formula extreme. buells sounded good, really quiet. one lap it seemed like one buell made up about 4-5 places, then for some reason dropped back a couple of places. word on the buell that didn't finish. for some reason they pulled the bike into the pits. it checked out okay, but then crashed in turn one. Oh well. good folks. tonight, going over to see erik and band play. REX -------------------- American Sportbike Night for Buell Enthusiasts. Dave...Thanks for the pics. Wish I could have made it but had a last minute change of plans. Can't wait to see the pics and read the stories from the rest of the folks that were there. Sounds like another successful Buell Event to me. |

DaveS, Thanks for everything. We were late getting to Appleton, but really enjoyed it. It was an adrenaline rush to see so many Buell owners and fellow BadWebers in one spot. It was great to finally be able to put faces to all of the handles from here. PS. The D&D setup was flawless and the sound is awesome. Once again, I want to thank you for meeting and exceeding my expectations with the pipe. |

Wow, what a great weekend! Steve and Toni were great and gracious hosts, I had a couple of small misfortunes, but they were really minimalized by the people that were around. Steve, Toni, Tim (No_Rice), Carl, Stalker and others that I can't name off of the top of my head. The commercials were wrong. You do NOT meet the nicest people on a Honda. Buell has that all wrapped up! A special thanks to Hal's, Appleton H-D/Buell, the people at the factory, and of course Erik Buell himself without whom this wouldn't have been possible. An extra special thanks to the Friday night Buell relay team for your extraordinary efforts. |

Daves, no problem on the help cleaning up. The least we could do for feeding us late folk! I was surprised how fast that place cleared out. Maybe they all knew it was time to clean up Brian, it was my pleasure to play host. You're ever in the neighborhood again, you guys have a place to stay. And to those of you that don't know what the "Buell relay team" was, well... We had a bit of excitement after leaving Appleton. Riding down HWY41 toward Milwaukee, Diablobrian had a rear tire blow out on him. I was right behind him when it happened. At 1st glance, it seemed as if his kid was just moving around a bit on the rear pillon. Then the shaking got violent. So I backed way off, and gave Brian a bunch of room, and to keep any cars off his ass. He and Kyle handled it like pros, and brought her to a stop without incident. The "wakeup strips" broke the bead on his tire as he was coming to a stop. Making it a bit more difficult to push. MikeJ, Stalker, and myself played Buell leapfrog, and kept moving the bikes up the hwy to get to the HWY28 exit. A good 1/2-3/4 of a mile. Doesn't seem like much, but try pushing a bike with a flat tire that far called my ever resourceful brother Chris, and he came and put Brian's & Toni's bike on the trailer about 1:45AM. I followed them, DAMN it got cold! Luckily all the excitement didn't end up with any of our crew in the hospital. The 1st thing that went thru my mind after backing off, was "Where the heck ARE WE!", so I could call emergency crews "just in case". Good thing I didn't need to make that call. Kudos to MikeJ and Stalker for sticking around. Thanks! (Message edited by Steve_mackay on June 05, 2006) |

Oh yeah, those old S2s have a really COOL feature. Push both blinkers on(they have one on each side of the bars), and they turn in to emergency flashers. I am going to wire a circuit in to both our bikes to do that. It kept the cars away from our side of the shoulder a bit. Thanks again MikeJ. |

No problem, nice ride home, bit of excitement, bit of exercise, then on to home. The only problem with the S2 flashers was with the stock kickstand making them look like they were at a 45° angle. It was kind of strange though that not one person stopped except for that couple with the horse trailer once we were off the freeway. People probably figured with 6 people and 5 bikes we probably had it handled anyway. All in all a good day. |
