my primary cove got a hole punche in it when a lady tiped it over in the parking lot with her car . Its 100 bucks for a new one . The cover is made of this large grain metal that seems to be fairly weak in a puncture impact .I havent heard of any aftermarket pieces readily available for us to purchase please correct me if Im wrong . Sorry about the bad luck hopefully it doesnt happen to often to others . good luck

William,

That happened to my 2004 12R between 14k and 15k miles. I was still under warranty and the dealer took care of it. Looking at the way it cracked, it was obviously a casting flaw. The factory rep reviewing the claim was trying to claim it was a mis-adjusted clutch and not covered by warranty. The dealer went to bat for me and everything was covered under warranty.

Having owned Kawasakis and Suzukis with fasteners that disintegrate or that require disassembling 90% of the bike to adjust valve clearance, I have been really pleased with the Buell.

My 04 12S did the same thing and it was replaced under warranty after being stranded in another state. I had to tow it back home to be fixed, but beyond that I have had zero problems and this has become my all-time favorite bike! Good luck with yours!
