All this talk of adding another scoop goes against my strip it down philosophy. I have seen pics and heard various users mention completely removing the scoops. I am interested in your opinions of the pros and cons to this approach. |

What a n00b! My opinion is it'd run hotter longer. Maybe if we didn't live where it's as hot as it is. Have you seen Trojan's flush mount scoops, they look pretty minimal.

I don't think removing the scoops is a good idea. The scoops are there to direct the air around the heads where the airflow will do the most good. |

I agree with Diablobrian if the criteria is clean, fast and grid lock conditions. If the criteria is fast and in the wind all the time without concerns about emissions then "TWO SCOOPS PLEASE" It is a simple matter of priorities. The factor of durability may become an issue for either side of the fence. Time will tell. |

I still don't see how the Trojan flush mount scoops do any good. It appears to me that you could just take the scoops off and you would have the same amount or more air flowing around the engine... Non-engineer thought, though. Kilgore |
