Speedo has failed on 2001 M2. I realize that this is a fairly common problem but does anyone know if the factory upgraded the speedo sensor? If so, is there a new part number? Will the XB sensor fit? TIA

The new sensor has a voltage regulator in it.
This prevents (for the most part) the problem.
Sorry, i don't have the current part #.

Daves?

If it's the sensor, expect to spend around $50. I don't know if the XB sensor is the same.

(from Harley Tech Tips Online)
All Buell tube frame models use a new vehicle speed sensor, 74431-01. The new sensor can be identified by shorter lead wires and a new grey connector. This new sensor P/N 74431-01 should be used in place of P/N 74402-95 on all Buell models, all years. Please make the parts department aware of this change along with all service staff.

The updated "kit" runs around $75 or so. Be certain you get the installation instructions with it, I don't know if they're included or if they're a service bulletin type of thing.

Thanks for the help. We were able to obtain an upgraded unit from a local Harley dealer. In case anyone else is interested, there is another update. The new part number is HD 744431-01B.
