I was wondering how the traction grips Buell offers compare to Pro Grips. I have a set of gel Pro Grips (uninstalled), but I saw a pair of traction grips at the dealer and was wondering what people thought of them compared to other after market grips. Thanks!! | ||

I have the traction grips, after trying several other after market grips. I found the traction grips most comfortable. | ||

Traction Grips by far are very comfortable. I tried several aftermarket brands and still ended up back with the mothership! Excellent price for such good quality too! | ||

Can you use the traction grips on the XB9SX with the hand guards? The web said they are not compatable? Anyone use them ? Thanks | ||

Like Burner says,they are a great deal,well formed and comfortable. I switched to the traction grips almost immediately after buying my XB12S and the difference is well worth the price. Less numbing fingers and better feel. Had to slice off the ends to fit my throttle meister cruise control and they work together beautifully.I suppose you could carefully cut the ends off for the handguards also. ....Mick | ||

Wsplrll I have them on my City-X but you have to cut the ends out. Then use a sanding roll to make sure the throttle side does not hang. | ||

i agree also. i've tried a couple different styles and the traction grips have been the most comfortable by far. | ||

I Love my Traction grips! I tried the expensive Buell Torque grips, but reverted back to the Traction grips. | ||

i had those gel grips and the traction grips are better, they feel better cuz they are bigger. they feel really good they were longer than the other grips, and with my protapers, i had just barely enough room to get them on because the brake levers were starting to get a a funny angle when i moved them in, i also have the fold in bar mirrors so i needed that extra half inch of bar sticking out. i also had to cut out the end of the grips, but you cant go wrong with them. plus i think they look bad a$$ too. | ||

oh ya, when i cut out the ends, i used a dremel with a drum sander on it and got a nice perfect hole. | ||

Put them in the freezer to harden them, it makes them easier to work on. I used the little saw type tool used to cut pumpkins to cut out the ends, so I could install bar end mirrors. | ||

I used a hole saw. turned it by hand. Nice round hole in about 20 seconds. Worked perfectly. You need 1" for the right. 7/8 for the left. Or just do both 1" | ||

I really like my traction grips so far! 200 miles or so. I've had the progrip gels on several bikes. Be careful to get at least the medium hardness if you live in a sunny climate. I had a pair of soft progrips turn to goo in the sun when I lived in San Diego. We stopped for lunch, and when I got back on the bike my glove stuck to the grip. I never did get all of the goo out of that pair of gloves. If you live somewhere cooler you'll probably be fine with whatever you choose. |
