Fellow Buellers, I just bought a new 2006 XB12SCG and want to change the engine oil at 200 and 500 miles, before I take the bike to the dealer (maybe) for its first service at 1,000 mi. What oil should I use (not synthetic, I know) in these two intermediate changes. I think I'll buy it from H-D but want to know the weight and the label. I will also change the primary oil, which I have bought already as recommended by this board--FORMULA+. I'm headed out the door for my first ride!! |

you can use synth oil -- see your owner's manual for factory recommended wieghts and brands -- of course, a real purist would use bean oil, but it's tough to find these days (smile) |

Just use SYN3 in both, keep is simple. Dont forget to fill the tyres with nitrogen, 79% mix recommended. But, do set the suspension per the manual. Dealers in general dont seem to be good with this. |

I used HD dino at 200 and 500. Then I went to M1 at 1000. Seems to have worked just fine. Good luck. |
