The breather tube sticks out about 2inch inside the air filter, (I have the buell race one with carbon fiber cover)the tube is could I cut of an inch, put 2 90 elbows in it to make a U so that it spits right into the mouth instead of spiting out away from it? I think this would greatly increase its flow directly into the carb vs leg. I thought I would try this before using a bottle or spiting it on the ground. One other thing the K&N filter is a little warped and im thinking probably leaking air thru the side, do they make plain paper elements for these, I think the whole K&N thing is not what its all cracked up to be more work buying the stupid refills making a mess etc. |

My first K&N lasted over 45k miles. I washed and reoiled each oil change and the $18 recharger kit lasted quite a while. Just saying that I like mine is all. (BTW: I replaced the first element beacause I dropped my bike on it |

I had the same problem with the race filter; the K&N element doesn't seal very well because the flimsy CF cover has the offset mounting holes that don't apply enough pressure around the rear part of the filter houosing. If I had to run breather hoses back into the carb intake (I use a vented catch-can on my M2), I'd replace the race filter's spacer with one of those aftermarket spacers that have the breather passages and fittings built into it. I can't remember who sells it, but it's widely available. I didn't like the CF race filter at all. |

I don't understand why anybody would want to run their breather hose back into the engine. The engine sure doesn't like it and if you run the XB rocker tops you can vent it out the back with no puking. You can even run the stock stuff( if you run the lines right) and get very little leakage. And I love my K&N Filters(have them on everything)even my CF race can on the M2...Charlie |
