The plastic low beam headlight lens on my XB9S is melting. There is a large whitened blister in the middle of the lens. I took it to the dealer, Cerini HD, the service manager said he never saw this before. He found that you cannot buy just the lens but have to buy the whole assembly. He sent a request to Buell to see if they will fix this defect. This is the original light that came on the bike. It only has 4400 miles. I sure hope they correct this because it sounds expensive. I believe others here had the same problem (Message edited by old man on May 10, 2006) |

Let us know how it turns out. I bought my Bike at Cerini also, and I would like to know how good their customer service really is. (I live in Irwin PA) |

Old_man I had the same problem with my 06XB12Ss and the dealer said the same thing. They are replacing it under warranty as well. Mine is all stock too. I think there are a few other members with XB's that have the same problem as we do. My new head light is in and will be put on this week. I too want to find out what is causing it, because my bike only has a little over 700 miles on it, go figure. |

least expensive OEM headlamp assembley you will find on a modern road bike, the whle set up is less than fifty bucks, including halogen bulbs i think.... cant account for the melting though, mine has run 16,000 miles, mostly with both light bulbs lit, last 9000 miles with a VERY BRIGHT HID bulb on low beam. |

The dealer told me $54. for the assembly. Labor should take the cost over $100. I suspect some of the plastic in the lens may be corrupted by something that absorbs the heat, explaining why they all don't melt. |

My wife rides a Moto Guzzi Breva. Last summer, a semi kicked up a piece of road debris that broke her headlight lens. The replacement cost $125.00. I'd say $54.00 is pretty cheap, in comparison. Buell parts have some of the most reasonable prices in the industry, in my experience. |

I don't believe I should have to pay anything to fix an obvious defect in the manufacture of this part.. |

Old man, You shouldn't.......... The lights and belt on my 03XB9R are major issues in my mind. The lack of a belt recall and headlight recall my be the sole reasons I do not buy another Buell. Love my bike but after a couple of belt failures and headlights that are unusable (even after $90.00 piaa bulbs) I am considering a rice burner. I am developing issues with how Buell is run behind the scenes. They have shown a lack of caring about two major issues. Erik Buell obviously does not run policy at Buell or I am sure that both the headlights and 03 belt systems would have been upgraded at the ir expense by now. I have had several rice burners over the years and they all had zero issues. I can not imagine buying a R-1 and having the headlights melt or the chain snap prematurly......... |
