BadWeb Team I have a 2003 XB9S with stock aluminum color rims that were not cleaned often by original owner. The brake dust seems to have left some staining on the rims that I would like to remove. Question is are these rims clear coated? Second question is could I use the Mothers Brand Polishing ball( driven by drill) with aluminum polish to get the brake dust stain removed and the aluminum to shine? If not any other good options? yes you can polish the smooth areas! i had good results with never-dull(wadding polish) | ||

Are you talking in between the spokes? I had the same problem B4 powdercoating mine, I sprayed engine degreaser on them, quick hit with a spoke brush, then used a high pressure hose, just stayed away from the bearing area with the trigger pulled. About 10 minutes per wheel. | ||

follow the advice from u4euh. you can't really polish the spoke sections. You can try using foamy engine brite or brake cleaner. You can polish the shiny portion of the rim if you want to spend the time on it. But you'd be wasting your time on the spokes. | ||

I was cleaning off the rim stripe glue when I screwed up putting them on. I was using carb cleaner and hit a spot on the spokes where it had a real nasty look since I had bought the bike and it came right off. I hit the rest of the spokes real quick with the spray and a rag. They look like new now. | ||

Cool. What kind of carb cleaner? I want to get some. I just hate trying to clean the wheels, especially the front ones. Nothing seems to work very well. | ||

Be careful not to get it in the bearing area. Want something that will work just as good and less harmful if you get it contact with lets say your belly pan or other painted surface?? Try Honda contact cleaner. It cleans like you wouldn't believe. And it hurts nothing.Engines cases look great. |
