What kind of pit stands are folks using for their XBs? I know Pit-Bull makes stands that work with the XBs using the correct adapter, but they also appear to be the most expensive. Do any of you have experience with other (potentially less expensive) stands that seem to work well? Are there any that you'd recommend I stay away from? I've already got a Baxley sport chock that works great for holding the bike, but I need something for tire changes... This is for my '06 XB12X. Thanks! | ||

We use a Champion rear stand with bobbins that we have bolted to the swingarm. This makes it extremely secure and allows wheel removal as well. On the front we have been using a Micron stand, but wheel removal can be difficult with this so we are adapting another type that lifts the bike under the front of the exhaust. | ||

Pit-Bull. The other ones from threads from before say the pit-bulls may be expensive, but you also get quality. DaveS is the man to see. Give him a jingle in the Sponsor section. He might be out till Tuesday, but thats where I would try, or search the KV.. this has been a topic for some time. or many for that. | ||

oh yeah, got them at pitsupply.com they're out of the ones pictured on their web site, the $59 ones, but they got these for $20 more, well worth it, they're heavy duty, and they have both attachments to them, the flat tabs or fork grab for different applications.  | ||

Pitbull are the best. Vortex are very good as well. Lockhart Phillips makes a fairly good stand, but it is considerably cheaper. Remember to specify the wide pitbull rear stand. I do use a Lockhart Phillips front stand I like very much. It lifts under the triple tree stem bolt. very nice and stable. The pitbull we use on the race bike is nicer though when doing the same job. Fit, Finish and durability are just better. | ||

Those look pretty cheap to me. the "bracing" with what looks like wire is a dead give away. | ||

here ya go. Pit Bull stands are great!! Had to use car jacks to change front tire since manual call for right fork roatation  | ||

Remove the caliper from the fork leg (2 bolts) and there is no need for the jack. That's what teams do at the track. | ||

i ended up with a pitbull rear stand and love it. Be careful if you buy a lockheart, I measured my swing arm width and went to the local bike shop and they were too skinny so I got the pitbull. | ||

pitbull also makes a front stand with a folding yoke that has a pin that fits into the underside of the steering head. Far more secure than trying to hold your bike up by the uneven(becuase of the front axle pinch bolts) caps on the end of your forks. woodcraft and vortex also make stands that are more compact. For the rear pitbull makes a nice wide stand that will work w/ the XB swingarm, you just need to specify w/ or w/out spools. Jim C | ||
