Hey new to the forum and I have an xb9s and I had a force pipe on the bike but it gave me no low end. So I'm looking for a good low end and all around kick ass muffler any thoughts? Thanks |

This is as good a place as any to ask this question: When & where is the shootout going to be taking place? I know it will be at Silver Eagle Harley Davidson Buell in Waterloo, Iowa on the 6th & 7th of May, but what times are we looking at? I am planning on spending a few hours up there on Saturday, maybe take a few demo rides and get my sling bag. So, if Kevin or DaveS or anyone has any details on this event, PLEASE POST THEM! |

I think they'll be going all day on both days to get through all the pipes on both bikes. Hopefully someone can confirm this for you. |

I'm still working on start times for the two days, but we will run as late as needed to where we feel like we are at a good stopping place. (or we crash from exhaustion, witchever comes first) Josh, Your best bet is to come up during business hours. (I dont know how hard it will be to get in after hours) 9:00am to 4:40pm on Saturday. You can stick around as late as you like. Anyone that is planning on coming and watching to attempting to give a hand or be the go-fer for us, if you need access, shoot me a PM and I will get you my contact info so we can be sure to get you into the building. Results will be easy to find. They will be here and easily accessible at the American Sport Bike website, and any other site that wants to show off. Like I said, any questions just soot me or Al a PM, we'll do what we can. Craig (formerly) of Silver Eagle Buell Waterloo, Iowa -Home of the Buell Exhaust Shootout- |

Are you testing just slip ons or full systems too? Are you doing different combinations or header pipes and mufflers? What about some of the UK companies that produce header pipes and mufflers. Just curious. |

Glitch I don't think those will be in the comparison. I can't call it a shoot-out any more, not without those being included I doubt they'd make the cut anyway. You'd lose all the ground clearance under your bike. You'd high center on a sheet of paper! |

Diablobrian, Killer Bike, Awesome story, you are an inspiration to us all. I just hope I can get back up and get on if it ever happens to me. I loved all the Ideas of improvements especially the Stand alone Dealers. I keep dreaming of opening my own Stand alone. Also, you need to quit talking about those heads and have a GOOD friend draw them up for you and share the Patent with you as an after market item. If Eric wont give it ALL to us we can at least provide it in the AFTER Market. I would love to know if anyone knows the REAL limiting factor on the REVS. Is it the CRANK, Heads, or what? Does the V-rod have the Potato-Potato Crank or opposed like the Japs? |

/sorry, thread hijack Thanks for the kind words Jimmy. Like everyone I just do the best I can with what I have. I cannot take credit for either the idea of stand alone dealerships. Trev Deeley has one up in Canada. He opened it before I took the plunge and bought Buell. 3 valve heads have been around for a long time. I do not know who holds the patent, but it exists. limiting factor on strokers is side loads on pistons/rods. The limiting factor on oversquare motors is piston speed vs piston & rod mass. The limit on compression is detonation caused by the heat of air cooled motors. The intake angle and included valve angle forced by the motor architecture is also a limiting factor. The pushrods and rockers are not the limiting factor at this point. That's all top end stuff so far. The bottom end is not without it's weaknesses either. 100 hp is about the practical limit of a production line single crank-pin v-twin. reliability starts to fall off shortly after this figure. Buell knows they need to build reliable motors not trouble waiting to happen. hopefully we'll see the RR bottom end in production soon. Of course this is all just my opinion and I could be wrong. If I am, I'm not afraid to admit it. /end thread hijack on topic content I wonder how fast your bike needs to be revving to make those things spin? Also I wonder if there is any baffling inside them, other than the turbine blades that is. |

jimmy it's no problem, however I'd be careful posting my email and phone number on a bb. There are 'bots that collect email addresses and people sell the address lists to advertisers. |

Kevin is at Craig's house, I'm at the hotel in Waterloo, Blake is on the road somewhere between Texas and Iowa, Terry got hung in Chicago due to no standby slots on the puddlejumper flights to Cedar rapids, so he rented a car and is now somewhere between Chitown and Waterloo due here between 2 and 3 AM. We start at 9AM tomorrow. Al |

You started at 09:00AM and you're posting you're almost halfway at 01:00am. I would say that challenge isn't a strong enough word. We're all counting on you.
