i am looking to swap out the tank on my 1999 x1 lightning. i am looking for a narrower profile tank. has any one done this? are there any ideas for buell tanks or any other tanks that can be retrofitted to my buell? thanks for the help. |

If your X1 is still FI you may have your hands full, if carbed my not be so bad. |

I have seen an X1 with an S1 tank. The owner did switch to carbs, too, though. Vik |

If you can squeeze an S1 tank on an X1, then a late model S3 tank with fuel pump might work as well. Just a thought. Henrik |

The S3 tank would be just as wide as the X1 tank, though. I wonder if you could install the S3 fuel pump into the S1 tank... Vik |

The X1 files had something but it was SICK money. Fabricated aluminum! looked sexy. Here are some stolen pics:
the aspect ratio looks wrong, use the frame rails as a guide. |

I have a narrow S1 tank on my X1. I am running a carb though. The seat doesn't match the tank very well at all. Someday I plan on making a new seat but.... Jeff |
