Whoa... I'm stationed in Europe... was invited to France in a few weeks for Buell Days, but won't be able to make it most likely. But CATARACT, if you do get stationed in Europe let me know... I need some more people to ride with, although we have a reasonable size group I guess. Diablobrian- I keep running into you, and to confirm your statement. According to "Motorcyclist" the headl}ining "SMART MONEY BIKE"} is the 2000-2002 Suzuki GSX-R750, it "spanked the 1000cc bruisers...","the performance bargain of the century..."} }Verdict : "Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee for about $6000" If you do rid yourself of the Buell, come on back after riding the Gixxer and let us know what you think the pro's and con's of it are, knowledge is knowledge. Good luck whatever you decide! I know I'm sticking with the Buell, it does exacly what I want it to do when I want it to do it. On another note: just because you are having problems with your bike, which is one of millions; doesn't mean every other bike/rider is have the same problems or experience, just be courteous to others. I'll apologize for everyone mowing you down (not saying you did/didn't deserve it), as well as your experience with the Company itself (Buell). My apologies. |

listen up guys i did not mean for this to get out of hand... i have just had way too many problems with my bike that it changed my attitude...maybe i caused them, maybe i didn't?... but i am extremely upset due to the fact that this all happened to me this last month and then i can't get any decent service from anybody accept a person on a telephone that is 1000s of miles away…. i can't get my bike fixed over the phone... i went to the local dealer twice here in jackson for warranty issues the guy would not even look at me in the eyes(believe me i kissed his fat A$s) thinking that would get get me some help ... i had to order my own parts over the internet and fix some of this myself... i had two other problems with the bike from the start that i never mentioned either because the dealers in seattle helped me out great and was resolved... can you even blame me for how i feel? the only mistake is that i shared some my negative feelings to you... i think maybe i am a troll too... this whole situation with this bike and the harley dealer in jackson has pushed me to troll status... yes maybe i did come off like a troll... now maybe even buell knows my uncommon 1st name and i am sure they have my warranty file as a dartboard on their factory wall now... i am just glad you all know about my problems with my buell motorcycle and especially JACKSON H-D... most of you missed my whole point of starting this thread in the 1st place... thank you all for participating... I hope the best for you all! I am sure BWB didn’t delete me and this whole thread when I asked them, to set an example… its funny how many people got riled up over this situation even myself! |

Actually, the moderators do not delete threads. They sometimes remove them, but only in the most extreme cases, but the thread is archived where regular users can't see them. They didn't delete you, because while they do ban IP's when users disregard the user agreement...repeatedly. They don't delete users ID's, unless board rules are (blatantly) violated. Bottom line, if you obey the rules you deserve to have your voice heard. Whether we agree or not is immaterial. |

Sheldon, stick around, you have probably the best Cinderella story on here. I know you are going to get rid of your bike, but at least you were able to sing the praises of Buell CS. BY the way, have you tried Bumpus Harley of Memphis? They have an excellent Buell standing at least as far as sales goes and I have talked to their service department guys and they seemed very knowledgeable. Hell, at least go test ride another one and see what you think. My '06 seems bulletproof compared to the '04 Bolt. Also, things may be the same between the models of Buells, but remember most of the first year editions are lemons, but try another one. |

Cataract - thats kind of funny that you asked... look at my name.... anyways, I'm in the Air Force and stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany; which if you don't know where that is at, it's about 80miles south of Frankfurt. Let me know... I guess we have around 10 Buells here, could always use some more; especially since I haven't had the opportunity to ride with any of them yet, damn work schedules. |

Buell is doing very well in Europe apparently! Be sure to make time to visit Jens at Hillbilly-Motors-Motors. He's a great guy, and has a wealth of Buell knowledge. Oh yeah, He's a board sponsor and has a huge line of Buell custom parts. |

Thanks Cochise! i gave buell 3 years on the XB models... i figured that was long enough... i have herd so many good things about 05 XB model i even waited out last summer to see if it was true... i am sure it is in most cases... i really did not like jap bikes with a faring or the high pitch sound that they had... i also thought they are for frat boys... but i have changed my mind after these experiences.. i realized i just got a taste of what sportbikes are from my XB... i want the whole meal deal now... i wish i had a truck so i could drive far far away to get my buell fixed properly with good service... but the bike is all i own for transport (hence the frustration of reliablity)... anybody here from jackson mississippi? i will pay you to help me get my bike to a good dealer for warranty! (now this is the 1st time I have asked for help on this site) |

Sheldon, Do yourself and start a new thread with your request. I think you'll probably do better that way. You'll get more traffic from people that won't read this thread any more. I'b help if you were anywhere near me. |

Looks like your 3.5 hours, give or give(sic) to Bumpus HD, may be worth the trip. I would hate, however, to send you that far and they NOT be a good dealer. Quite a cunundrum, whatever that means |

Brine, duh, didn't notice that in your name. Almost went AF. To bad they wanted 20% body fat to get in. I'm 226 lbs and it seems my weight loss has stopped at that. I know I won't hit their 202 lbs. My body is not made for that weight. Also, there was an issue about choosing your job, but that's for another thread. Least I know there are Army bases in Germany, so who knows. Might end up out there. If I do I'll drop you a line. Hopefully I'll have my bike. Or bikes... |

Seriously thanks guys! i have been doing a ton of research on this situation... it seems almost all HD dealers have dropped buell around here... i have to go to Alabama for the next closest buell dealer and who know what those guys know about buells anyway?... i think i just might pay for the major fix (weld) of the header bolt at a custom fab shop... and do the rest myself, the rest is cheap and easy stuff anyway... i bet customer service just might send me a new intake cover with the new improved 06 hardware if i send them the defective one... they told me that was a big fix for the 06 XB models and it was part of warranty in this case ... |

Sheldonesbe, your tone is really welcoming now. It makes me want to help you. The header stud problem is serious, but can be an easy fix actually. I had the same problem on my Cyclone (M2), for the same reason you did... I had a messed up exhaust mount, which let the whole system flop around. You can't mess with these 45 degree twins exhaust systems, they shake too much. Keep them pinned down and you are fine, but let them start wandering and things get bad really quickly. In my case, the vibration caused one nut to back off an exhaust stud some, and the opposing stud then shook until it sheared off flush. I have my whole ugly story in the knowledge vault, but don't use my approach. All you need is a tool from Jim's (I think they have them in the custom chrome catalog). It is a jig that will line up the drill perfectly to drill out the sheared stud. The tool is like $70, which is a lot for $20 worth of parts, but is a bargin as a really easy solution to a really hard problem. It works beautifully, and there is a good chance once you drill it out, the old stud will come right out on the bit, threads and all, nice and hollow. Even if it does not, you could either retap, or use a heli coil. I just drilled mine out by hand (after a terrible experience removing broken bits of easy out) and retapped by hand. No heli-coil, and it held up great for the next 20k miles until I traded the bike in for my 9sx (and is probably still holding fine today). A Heli-coil would probably have worked even better. Depending on which stud broke, it can be pretty easy or pretty hard to get at it, but you can generally get at them while on the bike. DO NOT TRY AN EASY OUT. They aren't easy, and they don't come out. Drilling the stud is fairly straightforward, drilling the broken easyout tip out of the stud is a nightmare. Let us know how it goes. If you wanted to spend the time and energy being polite but firm with dealers and the factory, you could probably get the problem solved under warranty. That being said, if you are mechanically skilled, you could probably just fix it yourself pretty cheaply with less work and get it done sooner. Depending on the person, either approach might make sense. |

I wish I had a bike when I was in GE (LARMC - it has a new name now). Crazy roads in GE immaculately kept, perfect for Buells. I believe there's a signal company attached to the med center in Landstuhl. I saw a few of those signal guys while working for the Behavioral Science Dept. Consecutive 12hr shifts listening to chatter drove a few of them nuts after a while.

I would get the Jim's tool and the appropriate left handed drill bit. On the left handed bits the rotation is the opposite of normal and sometimes the heat and torque of the drill spins the old stud right out, if not you're no worse off than with a regular drill bit. This is one of the tricks machinists use. I should know. Someone here might even be willing to lend you the Jims tool if you were to start a new thread and ask. Just a thought. The tool is invaluable when you need it, but you don't need it that often on the same bike if you check all of the studs after you have a problem. |

Sheldon declined the above offer. Joe, You are just as "important" as anyone else here. Some may think themselves "more important"; they are not. Thanks for offering to help a fellow Bueller. That speaks volumes. |
