Well, I've got the full kit on order. I'll probably resell the front fender (I have a different carbon piece as well as the large fiberglass racing style) and rear tail. I like the idea of the rear tail being a solo seat (since my wife has ridden once in the year and half that I've owned it) but I really like having a place for my tool kit, plus I've got the rear pillion bag. We'll see since I usually end up riding with a backpack if I need to buy anything anyway. Still need to purchase the mounting kit. I looked at it this way, I can resell my carbon chin spoiler, carbon oil cooler cover (possibly carbon fender) as well as all my stock pieces and have a large chunk of the fairing cost then paid for. Now, I just need to decide if I want to stick with black or if I want to go with another color. I'll be putting black rims on it this month as well as a polished swing arm (frame polishing will be my winter 2006/2007 project). I was thinking of the following colors if I don't go with black: * Tangerine * 2006 Infinity coupe silver (which is kind of a light gunmetal color). * Maybe a blue metallic that's close in color to the original XB9 blue (which the bike used to be). * Other - still early in the decision process. |

I think the silver would look good. As a plus I've never seen a fully faired silver 'bolt. There are a lot of black Buells, but black is a classic bike color. It'll never go out of style. Thrust Blue could also be interesting. If you would have asked before we painted out race bike I would have told you orange would be a bad idea, it is painted like the vr1000. Now the whole team agrees the orange side is their favorite. I'm not really helping am I? at any rate there are relatively few Buells and even fewer that have the full fairing. Any color you pick will be rare. I'd suggest keeping graphics simple and tasteful since good paint is expensive and styles change so rapidly. You'll never pull up at a light next to a bike just like yours once the fairing is on. |

I like the idea of the black the most, as with the black rims and polished frame, it would look sinister, but, it would also be nearly invisible at night, and since I have a solid black helmet and black leather (with white stripes on the arms), I feel like I'd just be inviting an absent minded motorist to hit me. I like the tangerine, but feel like I'd be trying to copy a lot of the customized imports if I went that route, although the black rims would change it up a bit as most of those guys polish out their rims. The blue is a nice idea, but I'd want it to look different enough from the battle blue so that folks (at least those folks who know Buells) would immediately be able to tell it's not factory blue. I've toyed with the idea of actually painting my car that Infinity gunmetal. I really like the color. My concerns on that color is that the polished swing arm and frame won't stand out as much. Urghhhh......too many choices.....I do agree about the graphics. I may just keep it a solid color....although, I do have that link someone posted sometime back with all of those XB graphics done up in photoshop.....hmmmmm. |

73-74 GM -Midnight Blue metallic Will look black at night, have a dark purple hue under the street lights and be a deep deep blue in the sun. Will look good with the black and polished stuff. |

A really dark metallic green would look good too. With flat black buell logo on the airbox. |

RED! and then put a big ole DUCATI sticker on the side and mess with everyone you see at you local bike night! Okay....maybe not the Ducati sticker but red with black wheels is always a tough look. |
