MY belt finally broke on my 04 12r, going to order belt from dave. But I was wondering, Has anyone put a 2003 or 2006 lower belt guard on a 04-05? One more thing I still love my and is still the most fun bike I've had, and so far more reliable than my cbr1000, go figure! |

I would think the 2006 wouldn't work since the swingarm is different. The 2003 belt guard doesn't have a separate lower and upper. It is two clamshell pieces that form around the belt as a whole, so the upper and lower is essentially one piece, not a separate bottom. |

oh, and the whole drive system on the 2003 is different, so the belt guard would actually be too small for the 2004+, because the rear pulley is much larger in diameter. |

The 06 belt will work just fine on the 04-05 Xb's or the 03 with the new pulleys from the 04-05. Now the 06 belt for the XB12Ss or XB12X will not work due to the longer swingarm, but the Firebolt or XBS models still have the same length as the 04-05 models. Just order the 06 belt and all will be good. Now, for the belt guards, I think the 03 would fit, but I don't know if it would work with the 06 belt. The 06 XB's belt guards won't work due to the swingarm itself being different. Belt will work, guards will not. Edit: Gah, sorry, I thought you were talking about the belt. Ah well, if someone pulls this up they can at least learn about the belt now. lol, sorry about that. (Message edited by Cataract2 on May 01, 2006) |
