OK, I'm strongly considering upgrading from my CityX to a mini-Uly. I LOVE The City Cross, and would only go to the Uly for the extra seat room for a passenger, plus the hard luggage capabilities. And the extra 200 CC worth of punch doesn't hurt either! But since they're both XB's, can I "convert" the CityX to a mini-Uly by installing the Uly subframe, seat, tail? Just curious... I doubt it, They have different frames. I dont know for sure though. I believe there was a thread similar to this one, I would search the archives. |

It would require modifications to the frame, subframe, and I have no idea how different the dimensions of the rear suspensions are. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea. Trojan would have the best knowledge about transforming from uly to r and could maybe give you a better idea of what would be required. I'd venture a guess that an ss would be a better start point, but then you might as well buy a Uly right? |

I say go for it, it may be a pain in the azs but it would be way cool. |

I would guess it would be a HIGHLY inefficient project - anything CAN be done though if you have the resources and the motivation!! |

What precisely are you looking at doing? If you want a longer SX, your looking at the whole tail section from the frame/engine block back. Swingarm, tail section, seat, ect. If your looking at making your SX into a mini-Uly, your looking at Forks, Triples, tail section, swingarm, shock, front wheel. In either case, simply putting a longer tail section on will make the bike even more tail happy with a passenger unless you add the longer swingarm for the balance point of the extra weight. This means fitting an '06 swingarm which has a different mounting setup then the '05 and earlier. What the exact differences are I am not certain as it has been over a year since I looked at the parts side by side off the bikes.... Ease of headache...buy a Uly...want something different, prepare to fabricate. |
