I wouldn't. Spend the $ on something else. |

You already have the "nipple" in your air box. cutting the box is much more cost-effective. |

That is what I would suggest also. Make sure you run your bike at the 3500 RPM for the 10 miles for the ecm to "learn" your new setup |

I wouldn't cut it unless you get a freeer flowing exhaust. |

The only reason that got the open air kit, is because I didn't want to cut up my stock air box lid. Just in case the epa in California gets involved. I keep everything just in case that ever happens. |

Bigbuell, That is a wise plan if you live in CA. The CARB is not an organization to trifle with. |

I read somewhere here that if it's an air through the frame bike (03-05) you're better off keeping the inner box intact. Something about volume pressure. If it's an 06+ with the air straight through the outer airbox, the open airbox conversion is the way to go. This was mentioned about an XB running an original Drummer but I figure it would apply to the Buell race kit as well. As a matter of fact, I can almost swear it was Kevin Drum who mentioned it & he knows his sh**t. |

I have the open airbox from American Sport Bike and the K&N, with the desnorkle job along with stock exhaust and immediately noticed the difference. I could have easily carved up my airbox, but mine didn't have the nipple and I like to keep the stock stuff around just in case...Bike runs great! |
