I am riding a 2000 Cyclone and getting about 44 mpg. I don't ride it very efficiently though. Anybody know how well a Cyclone can do being ridden normally? What would it take to improve the gas mileage? My buddy's S3T got 53 mpg on our last ride while I got 43. I would love to get in the lower 50s. Mike | ||

Commuting I get 48mpg. 17 miles about half highway (if you want to call the 101 at rush hour a highway) and 30-40 stoplights. On the weekends the best I have gotten was 55mpg. | ||

City for my City X (no pun intended) is around 46 mpg. HWY can be anywhere's from 50-55mpg. | ||

I get between 45 and 55 generally. My record was just above 60 My worst was 30 or so when it was tuned by monkeys. Loafing along on back roads seems to be best for fuel economy. | ||

I get about 45 MPG commuting to work (lots of stop & go traffic) and ~50 MPG or better on long rides (2000 S3). | ||

My '99 S3 will run a low of 50mpg at 70+mph commuting to 65mpg on long 60mph higway runs. Needless to say, with the way it is fun to wick the throttle, I don't see over 53 very often. | ||

Between 45 and 48 - 1997 S3 with a rather serious set of mods: * Axtell 1250 kit with thunderstorm domed 10.5:1 forged pistons. * 2004 XB heads with adapter to run them in the tube frame. Also cut for thunderstorm-pattern dome pistons by NRHS. * Stock cam. * Mikuni 42 carb. * Frankenexhaust - KT Engineering pipe cut short on the bottom "cannister" and connected to a 17.5" long, 4" body Supertrapp with 15 4" disks. The latter is an automotive part from Summit Racing, 2.5" intake. This is a healthy combo. | ||

M2 Best 56mpg (55-60mph local Highway two-up) M2 Worst 34mpg (Daytona Bike Week in Traffic) Uly Best 51mpg (80-85mph Freeway) Uly Worst 38mpg (Just after the break-in period. WOT) Commuting to work both bikes get about the same 44-45mpg, but the M2 is averaging better all around. Riding around home the M2 goes from 44-52mpg where the Uly goes from 41-47mpg. The M2 regularly gets over 50mpg where the Uly rarely does. | ||

When I had my old '96 Buell S1, I had a decent pipe on it and an S&S Super "E" carb. Mileage stank...down around 35mpg. With much more mods on a similar engine (and same cam), the Mikuni 42 is doing *way* better. I cannot recommend the Mikuni highly enough. The S&S is easier to mod and probably better for drag-race applications but...for the street, go Mikuni. | ||

My S1 track bike once generated 77mpg imperial or about 63mpg US on a back-road blam with the boys. The S3 used to generate 65mpg (52mpg US) pretty often. I can't crack 60mpg(48mpg US) with the R100GS/PD no matter how carefully I ride it. 45mpg (36mpg US) is more the norm. | ||

My 12R seems to stay in the 45-50mpg range. Even when I completely beat it on the street I still stay over 40mpg. Moderate highway cruising will put me over 50mpg easily, and I've seen as much as 59mpg. My worst ever mileage was at the track, the fuel light came on with only ~75 miles on the trip meter. I filled it with a jerry can so I couldn't get exact mileage, but I estimate it was around 30mpg. | ||

My 1998 S3T will generally get upper 40's to low 50's with a mix of city, highway & communting. My highest was around 65 on a flat road at about 65mph. Lowest was around 35 while is some serious twisties (running 4000-6000 constant rpm). My S1W is usually in the low to mid 40's on the road. It tends to suck more fuel through the race intake with Mikuni and race pipe  | ||

Usually between 65-70 mpg's but then again I ride a blast. But I do yeah 230pounds. I love only have to stop every 140 miles for gas and it only costing 5 bucks. | ||

2004 XB9S, stock: 52 mpg in day-to-day riding (no interstate); the best ever was a trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway, at a steady 50-55 mph, run out a whole tank with no stops, 70 mpg. I only put 7000 miles on my truck last year because I rode the XB to work almost every day. Lovin' it. Bill | ||

I get about 40 mpg around town on my 02 M2 and 48 on the highway @ 80 mph. The engine really seems to smooth out at 3100 rpms. Should I be trying to keep the revs around there in daily driving? Or will I get better mileage/longevity at lower rpms even though the engine feels rougher? | ||

I get between 43 and 48 mpg. That's with a lot of stop and go, waiting on traffic lights, etc. '99 X1 with V&H and race ECM. | ||

40 to 50 on my S1 w/Mik 42, forcewinder, race pipe and big valves. Depends on how much stop'n'go vs. highway. S2 w/T-storms, S1 cams, forcewinder & race pipe usually does mid-40's. rt | ||

My other bike is an ironhead (hence my name here) I usually run my X1 at low RPM. Like 40mph in 5th gear. It doesn't vibrate too much if you're steady on the gas. |
