Finally my bike is back from the shop. I think the dealer has fixed my problem. After replacing the O2 sensor, ecm, and the now the throttle body with injectors and fuel rail, I believe it is done at last. It did take a couple of weeks to fix but by George its running better than before. From what the dealer says is that there was a problem from the beginning. Possible some debris in the fuel system. Its just to bad that they had to replace everything to figure out what was wrong. Anyway the dealer is going to comp me for the time that it was at the shop. They cleaned and detailed the bike already and they are going to give me a free TPS reset when I put my pipe on and filter. Also they are going to give me a free service at the 1000 mile check up. The service manager was pretty cool about the hole thing, by doing what he did really made me feel better about the shop and the ordeal that I have went through. | ||

Oh ya, I have noticed that since I got the bike back from the dealer the idle seem a bit lower, 950 to 1000 rpm. Can I raise the idle without messing up the TPS setting. The book says it should be around 1050 to 1100. Should I raise it back up to what the book calls for or just leave it alone for now. | ||

First off, you'll not need a reset for only changing the exhaust and filter. You'll only need that if you get a different ECM, as in Race ECM. Yes you can up the idle, be careful though they are touchy. Set it to the right idle, you'll be glad you did. The TPS is Throttle Position Sensor, unless you mess with it you shouldn't have to reset it very often at all. Every 10,000 miles or so. | ||

Glad your bike is fixed. Good to hear the dealer is stepping up and trying to compensate you for your inconvenience. No problem with adjusting the idle up. | ||

make sure your bike is nice and warm when setting the idle. you will get a better reading this way. glad to hear the dealer treated you right.  | ||

My idle will sit at about the same as yours when cold too. It bogs a bit. Once really warmed up, it's at the appropriate range. Go out riding and put a good 10 miles on the bike, then check the idle. | ||

Glitch What I meant to say is that I have a race ecm too, along with the pipe and filter kit. When I put it on they will give me a free TPS setting. Also I'm going riding today. I hope to at least put 150 to 200 miles on the bike. I sure hope it does not take a crap on me while on the ride, kinda nervous about the bike now, well here I go. I'll update you guys later. | ||

Well must say, I believe it is fixed. I rode over 100 miles today and not even a hiccup! It even runs better, I kinda thought there was something wrong with the bike when I first bought it. It accelerates better and even idles better than before. YA BABY! Well I also brought up the idle to 1050, much better than the 900 the dealer set it at. I just wanted to give a to the Fresno Ca Harley/Buell and Service Manager Bobby for stepping up and offering some free comp services for my inconveniences. He also called me today to ask me how the bike was running. Good follow up. | ||

bigbuell, i also bought my Ss from fresno hd but they caught the problem and ordered the parts from buell. they replaced the rear injector and fuel line. just recently had it in for a tps reset as i added some bolt on goodies and did some chroming. after reseting the tps. i took it for a ride, let me tell you idle adjustment is critical as mine once warmed up would not idle down. simple adjustment with idle knob runs perfect. maybe i will see you on the road. black Ss with lots o chrome!!!! | ||

May I ask what was your bike doing and what were all the problems? I just got a new 06' XB12Ss and it's my first Buell & first new bike so I wanna make sure everything is supposed to be the way it is and whatnot. The only thing I've noticed which I'm not sure if you guys have too is that once the bike is warmed up it takes longer for the RPM's to drop down, not an obnoxious amount of time but longer than the first 5 minutes or so of riding it. Have you guys noticed this at all? | ||

adam, mine does it to even with the race ecm. i know that in automotive injection they do this for emissions. the slower idle down allows the unburned fuel from the snap throttle to burn out of the cylinder rather go out the exhaust. our buells meet emissions standards already for next couple of years. i also read in TWO WHEELS ONLY MAGAZINE (british mag) that buells already meet the strict euro 3 standards as well. | ||

Adamcooney Chromebob is right, on the emissions for the Buells. But mine comes down right away or I'm just use to it. But most F.I V-twins that I've owned never really idled down super fast like the in line bike do. After adjusting the idle to where it is suppose to be, it runs a lot better. Now for my problem with my bike it turned out to the fuel injection system. The did not really troulbeshoot the problem, they just replaced the hole throttle body unit instead. It most likely had the same problem as Chromebob had. Now that I've talked to a few other people and the dealer they had the same problem with their XB12X (the ugly), so I hope this is not a problem with the 06 bikes in general. But just keep a eye on it, yours should be fine. Remember its under warranty.  |
