Anybody know of some fun places to ride in Northern Illinois. I live in Rockford. Thanks! |

Go out toward Galena, take the old stagecoach trail from Lena to get there. Cut down by Chestnut Mountain to 84, on to Savannah. In Savannah, find the ridge road, head back north to Elizabeth. You can go on up into Wisconsin, Browntown to New Glarus used to be a daytrip for us, or just go to New Diggings for a burger. Lots of good riding out that way. |

I know the roads get twisty in that corner of Illinois. I was hoping there were some roads in the RFD area. But the Galena area is only an hour and a half away. I guess I will probally have to head out that way. |

Jason, Head out towards Galena for sure. I live in East Dubuque, IL, right on the river. The Great River Roads running up the IL, IA and WI river boarders are awesome. Hell, we has one famous Ferris Bueller out here last summer and he was impressed with what he saw. Elizabeth to just west of Galena, south to Savannah, across the river to Sabula (all in IL) north to Dubuque on the Iowa side is awesome... North from Dubuque to Prairie du Chien in the Iowa side and south on the WI side of the river is my favorite ride. Let me know when you're planning on heading out and I can take you on a few of my favorite roads. Bring a few friends this summer and I bet I can get the the Waterloo crew to meet up with us too. You're both about the same distance. Check your PM, shooting you my contact info... Prior |
