I have been working with George from Dobecks because of my issues with a 4000-4500 rpm hesitation/stumble. After explaining the circumstances to George they have come up with an update. George and he came to the conclusion that the Main Jet (3rd pot) and the Cruise (4th pot) were overlapping , which was the cause of the hesitation. Previously it was thought that the max rpm starting point was for the Main Jet was 4200-4300. After George spoke with the engineers they found that the Main Jet starting could be moved up to 5000 rpm. This solved my issues. For those of us that this has affected they will preform the upgrade free of charge but you are responsible for the shipping. This is great IMO and shows a commitment. |

That is good news! I would get surging at about 4700 RPM. I had resolved the issue by turning down the 2nd and 3rd pots. I will have to send in for the update to see if it makes any diff. (Message edited by buellerx on April 14, 2006) |

Yes, send them your unit back and it will be updated. I would send a note with the unit stating the issue your having and that you are requesting an update. By the way there is something else that most people don't know about the TFI. When ordering or updating you can ask for the HP version in addition to the update. HP means that the 2nd and 3rd pot add twice as much fuel for each hour additional setting, but the 1st and 4th pot remain unchanged. So say that your current setting for 2nd pot is on 6:00 with HP it would be on 3:00 instead. It goes without saying that much smaller adjustments will have to be made for fine tuning. I will say that most people don't need the HP and the standard unit will suffice. I wanted it because I am putting together a better velocity stack/filter setup and my current version setup was already at 8:30 on the 2nd pot (HP 4:25) and I felt I might run out of room to tune if my new setup went lean. |

What are you guys running as baseline settings, so I have a place to start from. I got it off EBAY new for $160 shipped. I have a Jardine slip-on, cut airbox and desnorkeled. I am at sea-level with temps around 70 degrees. |
