Spidey...I agree with Bomber concerning the locals vs those that travel long distances to get to the celebration. Therefore, my suggestion would be to gather a list of the out-of-towners attending and survey them to what they would like to do while here and how long they would like to stay. I am confident that your list will be large enough and diversified enough that collectively between Uke's, Hal's and other dealers that would like to participate we can accommodate their requests. I am confident that factory tours, BattleTrax, local tours, long distance tours all can be accommodated. Wisconsin is beautiful that time of year and there are plenty of places to go, see and do. If there are any riders planning to stay for the 100th celebration, I would suggest a long distance tour through the State that would link the vacation spots and dealers. That can easily kill three to four days and would leave some great memories. FYI, Hal's KMC HOG Chapter has a 60 stop Statewide poker run that takes you through the best the State has to offer and is a set your own pace and route thing. I did it last year in 7 riding days and really can't say enough good about it. Do half the stops and some sight seeing and you easily have four days with camping or motels at night. For what it's worth, Bill |

CJ, I dont know how some folks feel about the Kettle rides, but I do know that when I rode to S.Carolina the last thing I wanted to do was ride some more. 1000 miles & I was done. I wanted to eat & meet people. Even when I went to Strugis, the first couple days were spent just unwinding from the ride out there, then I went on a few rides. But those were all relatively close. Hell you can leave sturgis, do deadwood, Needles highway, spearfish canyon, & custer park & maybe put 200 miles on total. And usually those are broken up into 2-3 days worth of riding. |

Dyna...That's the point in surveying those from out-of-town concerning what they would like their "Wisconsin Vacation" to include. I contend that that is the only way we are going to know what they think and, hopefully, the more activities we can support, the greater the attendance will be. |

Okay....Here's my motion for a schedule of events: Wednesday, August 20th: Gather at Hal's for greet & registration Ride to Buell Factory for card presentation Guided tours through Kettle Moraine Free evening for tire kicking, bench racing,For CMJ: Beer drinking Thursday, August 21st: BattleTrax at Uke's Farewell Dinner (location TBD)more beer drinking Friday, August 22nd: Free riding throughout the state for whoever is available. I don't want to be discounting people's ideas. I'm just trying to streamline this whole process. This seems to give everyone a mix of what I'm hearing people want. Some riding, some tire kicking, alot of fun. If I get a second on this motion, we can starting moving forward. |

Dyna, yeah you may be right after riding that far that may be all the riding they want !! Kinda selfish of me to think everyone's like me. That's just how I am, never want to sit still. When I get somewhere I'm just ready to go, go and go !! I wanna see everything and do everything !! I also agree with Mike about your comment above !! Too Funny !!! CJM |

Okay....here are some new guidelines for this topic: 1) Any and all input is welcome. HOWEVER, please forward your ideas to either Dennis (Lake_Bueller), Dana (BadS1), John (Bomber) or Tony (Spiderman) directly via e-mail. 2) We're moving this thread to it's rightful place. There is a topic thread under the Storm Fronts area. All further info will be found there. Thanks!!!!! |

I never thought I'd say this - but you guys actually have me looking foward to 4 + grand worth of riding! Just crazed - but still the chance to put a face and sound to all the cool people I've met on this board makes it worth it. I'll start sounding the horn here in the Bay area and start rounding up the intrested for the Ride! Sounds sweet! Looking foward to seeing all of you characters in the flesh. Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Educate rather than berate, such as giving a link to the new location. Hard to tell a dog where not to crap without educating them of where it's okay to crap, not implying that anything said here is crap. Would also help to add in live-links to the four primary emails for people to click instead of having to open up profiles to search for them. Just a friendly suggestion in an otherwise stressfull day. |

I'd rather post over here, just 'cause THEY don't want me to. I've got nothing to contribute to the shindig, but I hate to see a thread die for no good reason. Maybe this thread can morph into something totally different from its original intent. You know, like why a D-220 would be a much better tire than a Bridgestone if you're riding to Wisconsin from Massachusetts. Of course, in my opinion (based on my limited personal experience), the only time Bridgestone tires are better than Dunlops is when you don't want traction, longevity or quality in a motorcycle tire. Of course, someone will disagree with my opinion, but that's O.K. Everyone has the right to be wrong. |

OK Crusty, If I am planning on riding from Newfoundland to East Troy then what kind of tires would you recommend? I would like something in between of being sticky and lasting for about 7,500km Anyone have suggestions |

I've been pretty happy with D-205 Dunlops. They last about 12,000 miles of commuting and touring for me. I've heard really good things about the new D-220s, but I haven't tried them yet. They'll be my next tires. |
