I just rebuilt my motor because of my cases leaking. Everything was done right and everything looked good internally. Reinstalled the engine and started running it to break in the new rings. Everything sounds fine everything is good. Until today first time I took it on a long ride since the rebuild, and the vent line from my oil resivor is puking like mad. Covered my read fender in oil. Check my oil before I left and when I stopped and there isn't any real change. Can anyone help or explain if this is normal.

Josh

Josh,
How much oil did you put in? Too much will cause puking. A bad crank seal can also cause oil puking . There's a ton of info on puking in the archives.

Usally with fresh rings (at least I have noticed) There is alot of puking. Also how long were Your cases left sitting? Condensation will escape through the breathers too.
Best thing to do is to drill the drain hole in the rocker box spacer and put in new Umbrella valves after champhering the hole. I tried that "The Cure" and It didn't work at all so save your money.

Well Damnation! I just put the Cure with the checkball in and I hope for better results!

Certain oils seem to be foamier and pukier also.

But if I understand you correctly it is NOT the breather lines to the airbox puking it's the vent line from the tank itself?

I have overfilled my oiltank (when first owning the bike) by checking it in the morning seeing no oil and adding what seemed like the correct amount. Apparently oil seeps into the crankcase from the resevoir and upon firing up the engine all that oil gets scavenged and sent to the already full resevoir--if the pressure's high enough it'll even pop the dipstick out--or spew from the vent line.

If that's it just check oil after a ride (right away) and only add then.

If it's a crank seal you got mo bettah trouble...

On intial post-breakin running I found about a third of a quart puked into my airbox from extended 5000 rpm cruising--the breather was not pointed into the mouth of the throttlebody. After readjusting it to spew direct into the suckhole have not noticed any puke-dribble from the airbox.

Plus I pt higher compression pistons in so there still breakin in and of course more compression :D

The problem was that the vent hose for the oil tank is suppose to be hooked up to a spot behind the cam cover. Since it's not hooked up correctly it's puking. Both me and and a buddy of mine screwed that one up.

The "Cure" worked great for me, of course I also removed the umbrella valves and vent straight to air.

No runs, no drips, no errors.....

I bought the "Cure Plus" this winter but haven't installed it yet. I was planning on putting in new umbrella valves but is it a good idea to just leave them out? I would think that would make it puke even more.
