I put about a hundred miles on my Drummer/Race ECM set-up yesterday. The overall experience was very positive, but not perfect.

Positives:

- Terrific sound. Deep and not "brappy"
- Eliminated the "lean" spot under 3K RPM
- Noticeable increase in performance
- Much smoother freer reving

Negatives:

- Noticeable "hick-up" at ~2800 RPM
- Still not sure how the increased sound will be on longer trips. I generally wear ear plugs, but it will be mandatory now. I think it's kinda on the high side of volume I can live with.

I'm gonna ride it a bit and see how it settles in with me. I might consider getting it dyno-tuned to see if that rough spot can be eliminated.

Net-net - I think it's a good value and would recommend it with the above qualifications.

get the K&N filter as well dude... noise inst too bad I wear ear plugs though!

Hey Fubar,

Just love to throw a cat amongst the pigeons.

A dyno can be just a pee in the wet suit feeling, makes you feel warm and fuzzy until the cold water hits home.

Dyno's vary and you can loosen the straps if you want more power, let alone the weather etc.

My opinion only and not open to debate, but it's all about whether the pipe does it for you or not.

Why bother with anything else? But if you feel you need to go for it, just remember that whatever the read out does the pipe do it for you.

Air Filter - Did it.

Dyno - I would only do this to fix the stumble, not really to gain more power. It has plenty now. I'm gonna see if it is really an issue or if my riding style will change to compensate for it. It's far easier to train me than the bike.

Well since you have the RaceECM, which has no adjustable settings, I dont see where Dyno time is gonna help anything.

Did you have the TPS reset after the install?

The TPS was reset.

I was under the impression that both the RAce and Stock ECM's were programmable. Not true?

Fubar...you are correct. Using the DirectLink software, both can be re-mapped.

In the mean time, I'll just adopt your riding style and keep the RPM's up. Now if I can just figger out how to keep the RPM's up and the front wheel down, I'll be in good shape.

I'm on a week long trip right now in southern Utah with a very newly installed Drummer SS, Race ECM and an open airbox conversion with K&N filter. It's Awesome!!!
Noise is a non-issue...my helmet makes more noise than the engine at speed.
I did notice that the bike seemed louder with the Drummer SS and stock air cleaner set up, than with the Drummer and open airbox conversion. It sounds different and I think less percussiony. Make sense??

Anyhoo I'll try and post some pics if I get around to it...Pizza's here gotta go!
