Just wanted to give a special shout out to the following for helping me out. Al (American Sport Bike)- Made more than a few phone calls for advice in getting my bike back together. Eric (Ebear) Although he was never able to come over and give me hands on help I did speak with him over the phone and got the help I needed. Kevin (Kdfab) For the offer of getting me help and also for providing that SS that is now on the bike and making it purr. Basically due to assumptions that turned out to be wrong I gave myself a heck of workload in tearing down the motor. Basically pulled out the cams, tore down the front half of the motor down to the cylinder ( that stayed on ) and also the rear rockerbox. All went back together smoothly. Held the started button for about 2 seconds each time and on the third attempt the bike fired right up with no issues. Ok I lied one issue. WTF! An oil leak on the front head. Yup stupid me. Tear back down the front of the motor all the way to the cylinder again to put the two o rings on where the pushrod covers meet the head. Put it all back together and no more oil leak. Yeah. Well I can now get the front head off and the bike completely back together in about 1 and a half hours now. So in all this work what did I accomplish? New front head installed ( Old one had both exhaust studs snap off in the head, yes I know extremely uncommon on the XB'ers ) New Jet Hot Coated (Black) header installed. New Primary Cover installed ( Black as on the 9's ) New Cam Cover installed ( Black as on the 9's ) New CRG brake and clutch levers installed New Muller Power clutch. I believe thats all I can remember at the moment. Thanks again to all those that provided all that help. Oops. Cant forget to mention Dave for sending all the parts that he did. Got a few parts from Al also. Thanks again everyone! (Message edited by yohinan on March 27, 2006) |
