Hey there,
Could someone tell me if the polished factory race muffler is polished aluminum, coated then polished, or what..I want to re-polish it but don't want to rub anything off...Thanks

The race muffler is mild steel, jet hot coated.

PM "Toona" he has a race muffler that he did an amazing job of polishing, it looks like a million bucks. he should be able to give you some pointers

Dooley, I polished my race can on my 5hp buffer with just some finishing compound. The coating is pretty much the same as Jet-Hot ceramic coating. Use could use some Mothers Mag Wheel polish and do it by hand, but.... the running joke in my shop is "High Speed---No Drag". The bench buffer is much faster. I'll post a picture later tonight.

after a few minutes on the buffer
it's not a mirror chromed finish, but much shinier than the stock finish. You can see the camera flash reflection highlight.

Thanks guys for the info....It helps...hey Toona do you have an oil leak above your muffler? Is it coming from the starter area? Thats were mine is...Nice job on the muffler bytheway.....

I know it's not a pic of the muffler specifically but I just polished it by hand with mothers. It came out almost as good as a polished wheel does.
