If someone has the remapping software. Could a friend send the remapp, key and a stock ecm away to them and have them remapp it off the bike. As a way of trying to save a couple hundred dollars just on the software? |

For the most part, sorta You will need your own unused/unwritten key, your ECM, and the software, someones software anyway. I had Al remap my ECM for a minimal fee, because I bought my own Key. The deal is, once the key is tied to that ECM, it can NEVER be transfered or used on another ECM, they are tied together, forever. If he is willing to put a SAFE map in there for you as a buddy deal, good on you. There is nothing out there that says you have to buy the software, just the Key. BUT- you better be D@M SURE the map is safe and appropriate for your setup, or KABLEWY is right around the corner. There is almost no faster way to KILL an engine, then to run an improperly designed and otherwise wrong AFR map. PERIOD. I have been working with other FI standalones now for almost 3 years, and bad maps do VERY bad things!! Do your research, make sure the map is dyno/AFR proven for your set up, and no worries!! If the stock ECM was removed and sent away to be remapped, would you have to have the TPS reset once you put the ECM back in? |
