hi!
new to the site and i'm just about to buy my first buell (xb12r) here in the UK...
i don't know if this is the best place to post this question but i need some help re: the micron full race exhaust - the dealership has offered me a full system but then told me it will make little or no difference in power output if i fit one to my firebolt hence it would not need re-mapping / race filter? somehow i can't quite get my head around this!!
help please?
cheer aks

"the dealership has offered me a full system but then told me it will make little or no difference in power output"

This statement might well be the Truth from the salesman !!!!.
On bikes with restrictive exhaust systems there is a lot to be gained by a free breathing system that makes more noise and is not legal.
If the exhaust system has allready been optimised for power on the bikes configeration, there may well be little to be gained and in fact some power to be lost with an opened up pipe.

Look to the manufacturers web site for a detailed Dyno chart with mods required to produce that power for information.
If you cant find one, it is either a secret or they just hav'nt got around to doing it yet.
I was amased a couple of years back when I contacted a large exhaust manufacturer and asked for dyno charts of the system to learn thaey had never tested it. If they talk about seat of the pants dyno or the sound quality, they probably hav'nt tested it.
Also peak numbers dont tell the whole story, 4 hp increase at Max RPM dont mean squat if you lose 6 hp in the midrange to get it, unless you always ride flat out at max RPM that is.

Hi guys,
I just got back from a week in Mexico, great vacation! The bike has been in the shop for about two weeks, all parts ordered and the heads have been sent off.
Can't wait for her to be finished. BTW, has anyone taken one of Keith Codes Cornering Schools, how was it? Just wondering.

Way over my bid too, but that's a good thing. He has a three year old daughter, and his wife is pregnant.

Jim,
Those details are what your bank will need to do a transfer for you, or what you will need if you have internet banking and do it yourself.

Lake,
He's explained in the past it is just a shortcut search number so he can find his way back to various threads he intends to do some management/reorganization of. It's just a magic number on his notepad, nothing for us to worry about. ;)

Hi...I own a Buell Blast & would like to custom my gas tank.
Does anyone know if I can put a larger tank, say from a Lightning or Firebolt bike on to the Blast?
Any info would help.}}

For your Blast questions you will get a better response or can look through to find the answers in the "Thumper Forum".

But I can tell you right now that the "fuel tank" from a XB Lightning or Firebolt will definately not fit.
The fuel is stored in the frame of these bikes, would make for a cool thumper though.

Hello
I have searched the knowledge vault but did not find an answer.
I'm tired of looking so I hope someone will just tell me! I changed the oil in my 02 S3T, warmed it up, Shut it off and it blew the oil plug out of the oil tank and oil went all over the place. I did NOT over fill it! What is going on?
Thanks

Joesbuell - If it helps, the drive belt on a M2 is 128 teeth (per the service manual). I think I heard that the new Ulysses belt can be used on the M2 but I'm not certain. So maybe it is 128 tooth also.

Had it been ridden or did you warm it up for a while before you changed the oil?

I'm wondering if there could have been some oil in the cases and that caused an overfilled situation. I think it only takes about 16 ounces of overfill to cause the situation you describe.

When I let my M2 set over the winter there was no oil left in the tank, it was all in the engine cases.
