About a week and a half ago I was just starting my journey to work. There's a tight "S" curve I get to hit in and out of my development. I went through like any other day...went through the first half, tipped her in and scooted my but over to finish the last half and it happened. First the footpeg scraped, then in no time my elbow was on the ground with my lower leg stuck beneath my bike. I held hard onto the bars to keep my knee off the ground and slid a good 20 feet in this position. I got up and immediately picked the bike up. Primary scraped up, mirror broken, shifter and clutch lever all ripped off. A bus driver who was waiting in an adjacent lot asked if I was ok or needed and help. I was and didn't, but I thanked him for his concern...whick is rare nowadays. He told me he saw something on the ground right where I went down. I looked and it appeared to have been coolant...soaked into the ground so as to be very hard to spot. It left a blue residue on my tires. I didn't feel it but my leg was bleeding. It looked as though glass from the mirror gave me a nice deep puncture. Needless to say I was pretty pissed and am still putting her back together. I decided to fix other stuff while I was at it...primary chain and hopefully fix a rear cylinder oil consumption problem and a leaky head gasket. If I hadn't been wearing my road racing boots I don't think I would've made out so easily. Be careful out there! |

Glad you're ok. Crashing sucks, but sounds like you came out with minor damage. |

Glad to hear you came out OK. I hate sliding around on oil, diesel fuel, etc left by people w/sloppy vehicles, but it is part of riding. When stopping at an intersection around KC I always have to choose where to stop and which particular place to place my feet to miss the oil. (I dropped mine when I hit some Ice in December. Luckily, the fact that it was ice protected me and the bike from much damage. My Lindby bars and mufflers got de-chromes and the saddlebag a bit mussed. Worst damage was losing a handguard.) |

It's a shame. People don't realize that their leaky car is a HAZMAT problem and they can get fined for it. Not to mention, people can atleast help clean it up. Make a call to the local fire department and they will take care of it to. |
