Sparky- If the FXD gets back from the dealer and if I can POSSIBLY hang with the likes of serious Buellers I'd love to do that ride with you. The Blast is set up for Loli right now so I'm not riding it. -Saro |

Join SCAB on Thursday, December 5th, 7:00pm, at the Press Box Sports Bar, located just south on Kramer at the Glassell/Kramer exit on the 91 Freeway, just east of the 57 interchange. Topic of discussion...LAGUNA SECA and the World Super Bike Races. No Dues, No Rules, No Attitude...just Buell fun. Also, remember that the Long Beach International Motorcycle Show opens on Friday, December 6th at the Long Beach Coliseum for three days. Now, there is an opportunity to ride the XB9S. |

Timbo, it ~was~ Sparky who sat with us during breakfast at Denny's last year at the Long Beach M/C show. I'll see you guys there next Sat. at 8am. And Balcom Canyon is open? Hmmm... |

PS. Sparky, as long as you're in the neighborhood don't miss Lockwood Valley and Cerro Noroeste... |

Jim_SB, You betcha. Also I like to make a loop out of Foxen Canyon & Tepusquet Rd on the way to the Songdog, then take either Lockwood or Cerro Noroeste on the return trip. Makes for a perfect head clearing weekend. Sparky |

Sparky, Last time I tried Tepusquet it was one rough, heavily patched piece of road. I had to stop and soften the front fork! We're coming into the time of year when Lockwood's seasonal stream crossings will have water running across the road. Usual traffic on Foxen is the wine tasting crowd. Make sure they don't get ya'. |

Loli and I will be at the Long Beach show early Saturday - probably in line for a demo. Keep your eyes open for a terrorist and a lepprechaun. -Saro |

help! driving to Long Beach from the north, is it better to go 5/405/710, or simply 5/710? FB |

Ferris- The 405 is shorter in terms of distance BUT with SoCal traffic, it may not be the quickest. If you're on the bike, take the 405. If you're in a car, at least take a carpool dummy with you! -Saro |

Hi Ferris, Not sure which route would be the shortest per www.mapquest.com, but I'd take the 405 and avoid the downtown LA area generally. Depending upon the day of the week (and time of the day) I might change that advice - if I were caging it I'd listen to the news radio and avoid whichever road had the worst traffic.... Having said that I'll head down early Sat. morning from SB and I'll take the 405... Maybe I'll get a chance to say hello... I'll be the guy wearing a Buell shirt... |

Do we want to semi-organize some sort of pseudo-gathering? I'm gonna arrive EARLY for a test ride and leave the rest of the day for checkin' things out. I can be pinged or called on my cell (818 645 3982). -Saro |

Let's be real here. There's NO traffic/congestion before 8 am anywhere in the LA area on Saturdays. But,... I'd be having my radar detector plugged in and working. I'd vote for the 405. Saro, Hava java with us. The semi-pseudo-gathering looks to be at Denny's at 8. Take 710 Fwy (Long Beach Fwy) south, exit Left at 6th (one-way street), Denny's driveway is on the left just before Long Beach Blvd. Tat's coming, he said, as well as others from the Golden State BRAG. I'll be the one on the Buell wearing the Team Elves 202.989 mph Bonneville Record shirt, the one with smiling Richard Nallin on the first Harley-Davidson powered motorcycle under 1650cc to exceed a 200 mph record speed. This is gonna be fun, Sparky |

Wow. Big turn out. Nice to see everyone at Denny's and at the Long Beach M/C show. The XB9S was a hoot to ride. That bike would be a treat in the switchbacks. Very comfy, too. |

Yep, Great time at the Long Beach show yesterday. Nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new friends. Riding the 9S was fun! It was also great to be able to throw a leg over so many different types of bikes in one place. Timbo |

dudes, thanks for the route advice. 405 coming in late Friday night was a breeze, but heading out Sunday evening was an entirely different matter... the guy assigning Buells in the demo area on Saturday morning, who lives in Milwaukee, asked me how i liked living in southern California. i looked around at the thousand-plus motorcycles parked on the grounds of the Convention Center, and at the folks waiting in line dressed in their best summer riding attire, and at the pale blue sky and fluffy white clouds and green, manicured lawns along the waterfront and flowers all a-bloom, and smiled. he didn't say another word, but his long, wistful sigh spoke volumes. i spent all day Saturday at the show, AND all day Sunday, and when they finally announced at 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon that the show was a done-deal, i STILL did not want to go. too much, as always, is barely just enough. Ferris, Did you take 5 north on sunday eve? The road was shut down just past Lebec, and there were hundreds of mototcyclists that had lane split to the front only to be stopped there. I was coming the other way at about 4PM after picking up my wifes SV650 up north. The backup went back for many miles, and cops were running weaving roadblocks for the next 20 miles beyond that. Did you ever find out why they had to shut down I5? Al PS The SV650 for Joanne is step one of getting to SPLASH next July. Al |

Ferris, timing has much to do with traffic on the LA freeways. That and the accident(s) du jour. Cafe Bill, Timbo and I stayed nearly all day Saturday (after riding the 9S of course). Bill snagged a nice helmet at 50% off, Timbo and I found some nice Held gloves at a discount too. So many bikes, so little time... |
