At last, the mercury climbed enough to mostly melt the ice... enough to get out and ride it anyhow. Rode up to Idaho City:
There was still some icy spots to skip lightly through on the dirt / mud / icy road that goes up to my house:
And still plenty of snow on the side of the road:
And some muddy spots...
The Rear fender doesn't seem to be quite long enough to catch all of this mud:
Here is what my bike looked like at the end of the ride:
What a great ride! So nice to be on 2 wheels again. I am really looking forward to parking the Jeep for the summer and getting more familiar with this bike. So far I am very happy with this machine. For all you can say about it, it is mostly just FUN to ride. I was wondering why my cheeks started hurting inside my helmet and then I realized it was that silly grin that would not leave my face. Happy Trails. |

Congratulations on the new toy. Idaho is a great place to have an adventure bike. My buddies and I have plans to spent alot of time there this summer. Lolo motorway, The Magruder corridor, Stanley, and Elk city. We are also are going to attend the Big Nasty hillclimb in New Plymouth in July. I'm riding to Boise for a family reunion in June also. I will keep an eye out for a orange Uly. I have to yet to see a Uly on the road. I can't wait for the weather to improve. It's killin' me. Oh, and that cheek pain.....the only cure is to get off the bike. Great pics'. |

The Rear fender doesn't seem to be quite long enough to catch all of this mud: If the mud is not on your back, the fender did it's job. Nice pics! |

Lowflyer, Actually, there was a small amount of mud that made it up to the back seat of the bike. I rode through the mud just idling along in 1st gear. If I would have blasted through it I am sure I could have covered it with mud! I think that the fenders work OK for my use as this is about as much mud as I ever intend on going through on purpose on this bike. It was pretty soupy in spots. As you can see in the last pic, the bike is still relatively clean after 5 miles of mud/ice riding so yes, the fenders do work for slow mud riding. |

Windrider, I agree the fenders do a fair job. The rear of my bike looked about like your's when I put it away last night. I had a blast in the dodging pot holes in the mud and snow covered roads I never would have dreamed taking my Electraglide down. I love this bike more everyday. I suppose I should wash it someday.
