Battletrax is a great time. Even if you dont win, its great cheering on your buddies do do better. If you dont have nay buddies, by the time the series is half over, you will. Some folks may not understand the concept & think racing in a parking lot is stupid. Actually it takes a lot of practice & hardwork to get good at it. The intensity level for me was almost the same as a track day only without the extreme danger of running off the course & getting killed. |

Lornce, battletrax is about meeting for breakfast, riding up to Wi, staying in first gear, and beating the rain home, its about making freinds that are around all winter, about not caring who wins, affordable racing, and people who will let you stay at there daughters house for the HD 100 party, its fun, free of ego, and about learning your bike, and how to ride try it out you may like it Bomber, take a trip to the borg, Reg has posted about a new class, ET class, or most consistant, Mike J seems a shoe in, but time will tell enjoy the day Roger |

Well I suppose... Used to have fun in the lot with the NX250's, DT200's and XT225's when instructing the Canadian equivalent of MSF courses... so I suppose I *could* see the appeal... But what if people talk? bseg, Lornce |

Lornce, If people talk then so much the better. Just suggest they run what they brung and give it a try themselves. It's the one event where everybody's welcome no matter what you're riding. And there is some degree of risk, saw one guy last year spin out a Harley where the bike must have slid 20 feet pivoting on it's primary cover as the rider sat there on his rear watching his bike slid away. Funny thing is his ladyfriend was more upset about the basically cosmetic damage than he was, he was having a ball in spite of the laydown of his bike. I think it was at Pilgrim Road where a Milwaukee cop on his dresser was chasing a Blast around the course, blue lights flashing, all just for grins, and dragging the floorboards of the bike. At Hal's Kirk got out his sidecar rig and had one of the sales gals hop in for a lap or two, fun to watch a sidehack slid the tires around the corners. FUN STUFF. Bomber, Got a mysterious manilla padded envelope in the mailbox yesterday. After determining it wasn't explosive I opened it up. Good thing you didn't sign it with your screen name. All arrived intact, thanks much. |

MikeJ, Hokay, sounds like you guys have a good time in those parking lots: power to you. If there's a Battletrax event within 200 miles of Toronto next summer, I'll see what I can do to attend. However, it seems to me the probability of crashing at those speeds is HUGE. We could get Blake involved in a discussion of momentum and inertia and how much more vulnerable we are to crashing when we lose the front end at low vs. high speeds.... Can you imagine the vectoral diagram featuring momentum f1, inertia f2, friction coefficient f3, cetrifical force f4, angular momentum f5, cetripital moment f6, stupidity f7 hand of god f8.... etc Relax Blake, itsa' joke son. Seriously though, it sounds like a gas. Hope I'm able to join you guys for an event this summer. Would be great to put some faces to names. Bomber, the SR500 must be perfect for this sorta thing. Cut my street riding teeth on an SR500 back in the day... With the old K-81 Dunlops you could lean it into next week!!! yee hah, Lornce btw, you guys have any interest in the track events at Mosport or Grattan? |

Lornce, There's probably two real ways around a B-Trax course, smooth or wild. Smooth you just try to keep things under control at a brisk pace and roll the throttle and work the brakes without too much excessiveness. Wild you slide and rip and crank and drag and cut and clip. One course this last summer there was one setup where I almost wanted to hit second gear. In any case to do well you have to get close to the cones and cups, most of the faster riders were just clipping the edge of some of the cups with their tires. On some layouts several riders loose time due to their front tire going over the finish light beam in a low throttle wheelie and end up tripping the timer with their back tire. The organizers frown on stoppies usually, depending on the location and how the day is going. I'm not certain where Mosport or Grattan are. I don't get up to Canada as much as I'd like to. |

I think almost all of us went down at 1 point or another last year. I dont think Mike fell at all. I finally took my 1 lowside at west bend. Didnt hurt anything except for a busted bolt for the shifter. 2 minute fix & all was well again. And as far as 2nd gear, when I rode down for the one Reg setup in Peoria, there was 1 spot where you almost had to hit 2nd, I was bumping the rev limiter. Course was huge & that spot made a great location for my wheelies. Reg didnt care at all. Brian was strict on the rules, & thats cool. Keeps everyone safe. Reg let everyone do their thing & it got kinda outta control. had 1 squid doing a little exhibition of wheelies for a bit out on the course during a break. Had the usual fur covered pos bike. he dumped it 3 times & the last time he tore off his exhaust, brake lever, footpeg & mount, etc. He also punched a big ole hole in his forearm from something on his bike. Bleeding like a stuck pig, but he was to cool to go have it looked at. Bled all over & then finally just disappeared. |

Do a search on the site here for "squid". Lots of discussion on it. By the way, anytime you see someone on a sportbike on the freeway dressed as you are on your barstool profile pic, then they be in squiddley atire. Nice looking barstool by the way. Bring it to the battletrax events this summer. In the back of my mind I want to build a v-twin b-stool. |

Koz....From what I know (which also isn't too much), Squid is short for "squirrelly kid". Mike's definition hits in right on the head. You know the type....tank top, shorts, flip-flops & sunglasses. They're usually riding a wheelie or doing a stoppie at Bradford Beach in the summer |

So my bike was in pieces this morning. Needless to say when I got off of work at 7:30 am I went home and scrambled to put it back together. I was on the road by noon. I got in 40+ miles!!! Cool tip of the day!!! The 1.5 inch hole on a tuber frame where the swing arm bolts reside can be covered with a nickel plated cap from Ace Hardware for $1.15 Koz.... |

You're welcome, and thank you too. Now to just wait and see if and when the schedules are updated. The national series stop #8 is listed as June in Milwaukee, which I assume coincides with the local dealership's Milwaukeerally.com events. But no day of the month for that or for the July Vegas event. Also nothing but the general regional series info with no dates or places. I'm wondering if, with Hal's now having a Mall-Store, if they'll have one at the Brookfield Mall on Moorland and Bluemound. Otherwise that one will probably be out in the back parking lot again. Maybe I'll pop Rick an email and see if he knows anything, or else I'll just try to make the meeting next Tuesday and ask then. |

Mike...I'd expect there would be some issues with the Brookfield site. Even though they carry insurance on these events, I can't see the mall management wanting the event on their property. IMHO. Not to mention that Hal's would probably prefer having the people on their site (more retail sales). Hope to see ya at the meeting on Tuesday!! Mennis |
