Rode out to Daytona yesterday and my fan was on nearly the whole time while I was on the interstate. Is this normal? I just had the 1000 mile service done and changed the oil to Mobil-1 synthetic 15-50. Anyone else experience their fan running constantly while on the interstate? | ||

Mine does too. It shouldn't be a problem. Some here have fitted a right side air scoop with good results. Check the Sponsors section to find out who offers them. American Sport Bike has a nice carbon fiber scoop. | ||

At just over 6,000 miles, my fan seemed to to run way less. It's much nicer to me without the fan running all the time. I'm hoping it stays this way. I've had a couple long, high speed runs lately and wonder if it helped break in my motor more. Give it some time. | ||

My fan I thought was a problem also, but switched to Castrol V-Twin synthetic oil (great great stuff) and put on a total of about 2k miles and the fan lessens all the time. as per other HD type engines they require about 5k to really rock. My 06 XB12R is consistantly running better and beter the miles it gets. As well as the fan runs less and less. | ||

New engines are tight, more friction, more heat. Wear the tight spots in, add a good oil, less friction, less heat, Less fan. | ||

Welcome to Florida man. It's normal for the fan to run while riding interstate speeds. Only in the cold of winter does mine now. Let me give you some suggestions to reduce it's running. First would be the right side air scoop from either American Sportbike or Trojon (both are sponsors). The next your already doing and that's using synthetic oil (I use Mobil 1 myself. You might want to look into using Mobil 1 gear lube 75/90 in the trans). Finally, get some miles on the bike. At 27,100 miles my fan doesn't run much at all now. Course, the things listed above helped with that also. |
