Just a heads up the thieves with the bad fitting cheapo carbon are back selling on EBAY under the name "East Coast Carbon". I have only had one dealing with these folks and I recomend not buying from them.

Skyguy....I looked at their site. Looks like they just laminate right over the existing part.

Look how thick the cut out is. WOW, that is horrible! I make CF for myself and a few buddies. I've done all the plastic bits myself for my bike (see Profile). It kills me that people sell this crap for a lot of money. It looks good on the outside but a lot of times looks can be deceiving.

BlackSunshine, I ordered a carbon tail piece from them and it looks great on the outside but is heavy. The underside is full of lumps of epoxy. Oh and it is for a "S" not a XB as advertised.

They never returned any of my emails when I tried to return it either. I believe the proper term for these folks is something like ASSHOLES and crooks!!!

I love the nice carbon stuff but unless I fall over a very large chunk of money soon it is just not available to me for awhile.

I just paid off my hot air balloon and am in the process of making it a full time gig so money is real tight.

Sigh.........

I heard that they are the same people that make the carbon for Al at american sport bike. I don't know if it's true, so don't quote me on it.

Almost all of my CF stuff is made right here in the USA from premium quality materials.

None is made by East Coast Carbon.

I know of very unethical business practices that East Coast Carbon has engaged in, and I personally would not deal with them.

Air tech is a stones throw away from me, and they make some fiberglass stuff for me, but they don't make my CF stuff.

If I told ya more, I'd have to kill you.

Al

Let's please avoid the inflammatory language and wild accusations. Valid or no, calling folks thieves on this public forum is not something we can support. Please be careful how you word such commentary here.

The way Al expressed his view on the matter, clearly, concisely, absent emotion and malice, is exemplary.

Thank you Al for your integrity.

Really, we'd much prefer simply avoiding all negative topics here. A positive approach would be to post an advisory/warning and relate your experience with the product/seller as applicable, again in a professional, dispassionate way.

Thanks for listening. : )

Okay here goes...... The not as nice quality of quality carbon fiber as American Sport Bike offers is Back on EBAY. The company is East Coast Carbon and I had an issue with receiving the right part or so much as an email regarding my much needed return or my cashed payment to them.......

I would not recommend buying anything from them as I hear thru the grapevine that several people have had a less than wonderful experience........ Ok a horrible experience

Damm! being "PC" is tough!

I am so glad i have decided against all the carbon fiber i had originally planned. i probably would have bought a bunch of that stuff already.

at least if i ever have the inclination to go back in that direction i know where to go. thanks for the other info you provided Al.

I bought a carbon fiber extended hugger from American Sport Bike and it is a really high quality part. Very nice looking and thin and light carbon fiber.

I also bought from them. I chalked it up to a life lesson. Got a few pieces out in the shed. I haven't found a good use for them yet.

Skyguy....My old roomate is a Hot Air Balloon Pilot. I use to Crew for him all the time with his Chase Commander. I would tell anyone who has never gone up in a Balloon to do so! Nothing like it. Good luck with that. My buddy makes good money doing that here in Atlanta.

Black sunshine, Just got my balloon back from it's annual and will soon have my commercial license. I taught my instructor how to fly paragliders and he has been teaching me balloons. We have teamed up and are working together to market his business. Very fun!

I am moving up to Coloma CA. and opening my own company in a year or so.

I might go fly for a company in Africa for a year before I do that but I have not decided yet. They pay Six figures a year plus tips and all living expenses!

Downer is that all you do is fly twice a day almost every day. You live in a tent camp with Masi guards, eat what they feed you and hope to get lucky with a tourist........... I have heard a couple of pilots call it "The balloon peace corps".

I am thinking it might be worth it though.

And Blacksunshine thought he hijacked the thread lol

I believe they are the same people I purchased my oil cooler scoop and the left side air scoop from. I don't recall having any problems with them, in regards to emails. The oil scoop fit perfectly but the air scoop required me to do some Dremeling on the back side to make it fit flush. As far as the construction of the carbon fiber, it certainly was not laminated over the stock parts. They were significantly lighter in weight and thickness. I intend to purchase the right side scoop from another manufacturer. Thereafter, I can make a fair comparison to the competition as to overall quality.
