The Daytona Curse Continues Thursday - Practice went well Dan B. from Hal's tried a different map on my bike but it did not feel any better so we went back to the old map. I had only been around Daytona in October and even then we only made 15 laps. We dropped 5 seconds from October . Please keep in mind the bike now weights about 40 pounds less and now makes 106.5 HP with 100 pounds of torque. Friday- Practice went well but due to our alignment issues with the new Rinehart pipe from Hal's it breaks. No fault of Hal's , It did not come with directions and it was not as obvious as you would think / We got the pipe welded at the track but I missed the GT Lights race. We made the last CCS Thunderbike race of the day . We ran in 4th Place until the two dollar on/off switch broke . We came in and wiggled the wires until the bike started. We got back in the race and managed a bit more track time. Saturday- We had only one morning practice . The track was cold and I had new slicks on as well as new brake pads . I had little confidence. ASRA time qualifying - I made it to row two with the 7th fastest thunder bike qualifying time. I was stoked! We had now come off 8 seconds a lap from our last time in Daytona in October. It was windy and we are still getting used to the new bike. I knew we could drop even more! Crevier was not included as he was on the XBRR and would not have made the 4 /1 hp specs so he pulled off after the session. THUNDERBIKE: 1. Steve Crevier (Buell XB-RR), 1:49.695 2. Dave Estok (Buell XB-12R), 1:51.283 3. Dan Bilansky (Buell XB-12R), 1:52.401 4. Nate Kern (BMW), 1:54.539 5. Bryan Bemisderfer (Buell ZX-12R), 1:55.205 6. Joe Rozynski (Buell XB-12R), 1:55.467 7. Jeff Johnson (Buell XB-12R), 1:56.183 8. Michael Snell (Buell XB-12R), 1:58.369 9. Paul James (Buell XB-9R), 1:58.403 10. Andrew Hamblin (Buell XB-12R) LW SuperBike - I came in 5th place . I was very pleased EXPERT LIGHTWEIGHT SUPERBIKE: 1. Nate Kern (BMW R1100S) 2. Sam Rozynski (Buell XB-12R) 3. Jeff Johnson (Buell XB-12R) 4. R. Keese (Suz SV650) 5. Michael Snell (Buell XB-12R) 6. Dane Westby (Suz SV650 I went back to the hotel high as a kite from the day on the track. Racing on the down side has as many extreme lows as it does highs. Sunday - On the first and only practice of the day on the second lap my motor blew up. We did not get a chance to race in the big race of the weekend and packed up and made the 20 hour drive home. Many Thanks to the following for the help , advice ,and for believing in me. LJ Jones , Terry and the guys at Hal's,H.Duga,Walt Sipp,Paul James, Cool Ice, DiabloBrian , Julie , and Hailey Michael |

Sorry to hear about the motor. Few things suck more than filling the truck while you can hear & see bikes running all around you. Makes it worse when pits are on the front straight. Hope you had a safe drive back, and better luck next time. Ben |

You took a LOT that was positive from weekend. Next year you'll do even better, for sure. Can you say "podium"? |

Thanks for the update. . . I can see this coming year is going to be the YEAR OF BUELL RACING. These "Privateer" reports are the best! Sorry about the engine, but thrilled with your successes and looking forward to hearing more. Court |

We did take a bunch of good stuff from the weekend. This was our first weekend back running as Expert after a 7 year lay off. The support form the board has been a huge help! |
