Court - Can you find out if Buell factory accessory heated grips are in the works or is aftermarket the only alternative? Thanks |

Don't wait. Go aftermarket for now, it's tough to bear the "wrap ons". This may change, but it won't be before warm weather. |

it's tough to bear the "wrap ons". How so? I bought the kit from CA sport touring for ~$30. They make good amounts of heat, and with a little care they look almost factory? |

I think he meant "tough to beat the wrap-ons..." |

>>>"tough to beat the wrap-ons..." That is correct. They sell them at Aerostich and they work great. |

I installed the heaters from sport tour, and a set of the BMW sport grips. I like those grips, have used them for many miles. Got a black switch with the kit, and it looks factory to me. I like having them installed, cause it is nice on a cool summer evening to just turn them on and catch some heat. |

If you need industrial heat and a thermostat you might look at "Oxford Heaterez". These get HOT! The install is plug and play although I added a relay so they go off with the switch. For a picture check out: http://www.bikesax.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GPHOX695&Category_Code=GRP-HTD The downside is that they cost more and you can'nt use the grips of your choice. The grips however are comfortable, at least to my taste. |

Can't beat, I say again, the CHEAP "wrap ons" from Aerostich. |

Court, I think you messed up this whole thread with the 'can't bear the wrap-ons' comment. Now, everyone has to chime in with how good their particular heated grips are. Can't........stop.........myself.....must resist...........aahrghh!.............I have Dual-Stars and they are great!........aaahhhh...

My shop sold me a pair of those by accident and they warped my throttle sleeve so much I couldn't twist the throttle. Thought it was cool for about 3 seconds when I went to slow down for my corner off the highway! Hey I've got cruise control! :-) Oh sh!t! Limped the bike home and the throttle sleeve was a mess. Dealer replaced the throttle sleeve and the heated grips with the proper motorcycle units that don't get hot enough to melt plastic.} |

Bross, the "Heaterez" are sized left and right for bikes, taking the throttle sleeve into consideration. They also come with "Super Glue" to fasten them. I almost overdid the glue on the right grip and had to work it loose to avoid the cruise affect. I wonder if your shop did the same thing? "My shop sold me a pair of those by accident and they warped my throttle sleeve so much I couldn't twist the throttle." A little super glue goes a long way! It might even take you further than you want to go! |
