Boy, Progressive Insurance sure seems progressive in their pricing!  Motorcycle Consumer News just came out with an insurance article which seemed to conclude that insurance policy prices are very strange. Thanks for the updates. | ||

My insurance jumped considerably with Progressive going from NY to FL. Full coverage was about $550 a year in NY...now I pay $685 for less coverage. That's probably typical though, right? | ||

Progressive is just fine for the S2T even with the 1203cc. They were raping me for the DucSS to the tune of $1300.00/yr for full coverage...NO WAY! Dairyland, even gave me a discount for being a BRAG member!  | ||

Prof Stack: My XB9R costs me $196.00 for full coverage for a year. (no tickets) I went with Harley Insurance (Universal Underwriters) They told me it is considered a Harley, not a sport bike and price is dependent on motor size. I have to say, if I was paying what some people on here are paying, I never would have bought it. | ||

Saw a black XB9S today. For the most part I like the bike but the "tank" graphics are plain ugly. They don't have to worry about the fuel vapors blistering decals anymore so why not drop the Lego block letters and go with something...classier? Sparky, Looks like some in the motorcycle community are beginning to see the light. Cool! Mikep, Hope that muffler works well 'cause its damn near as ugly as the OEM muffler that came on my '97 S3. i'm ecstatic to report that i have added another buell to the stable! woooohooo! i went and saw it today, a black xb9s!! i think its the first in toronto. yeah, we're slow to receive these babies compared to south of the border. i'll hold on to my X1 for sure, i love that bike! quick question, what are the break-in procedures as described in the manual? cheers, k | ||

S32002(Greg), Ouch! That cuts to the quick! That muffler could be beautiful in the eye of the beholder, in fact it is. Its like a Mother and her children, I think it looks great! Maybe you have to see it in person? It has that REALLY NAKED look, and there is BEAUTY in the 4.1 pounds that it weighs, and it's wonderful deep throaty sound, and I am making another one that should minimize the Torque dip between 3000 rpm and 4000 rpm. Well, temptation came my way one more time – and I succumbed… And it was much harder than I thought when it came time to hand over the keys to the Blast. Even though the Blast was the most fun of all 6 motorcycles I have owned, I traded her in today (9,867 miles, $2,500) for a new XB9S Lightning. Great deal, thanks to a generous owner who I once taught math to, and a very nice 0.9% interest rate for 36 months. Here are my early impressions: (1) Handling is superb, better than the Blast’s great handling (2) Seating position will make for a more comfortable ride due to footpeg and handlebar placement. Slight lean forward with less pressure on the rear end. (3) Acceleration is obviously in a different league than the Blast. Nice to calmly blow every car off the line. (4) Shifting is a little clunky but will probably smooth out like the Blast’s shifting did. Some buyer’s remorse was removed during the ride home. Once there, the good wife mentioned something about a Rolex. What kind of bike is that?  Time to update my website…  | ||

Daves: You got a URL on the frame protector? What kind of tool do you use to set the front pre-load? Does the hexnut just turn or does the large nut below it first need loosening? The micro-toolkit had enough for 5 of the 6 suspension adjustments. | ||

This is for Firebolt owners too: When I stopped for my first fillup today, I couldn't get the #^$&* gas cap to open. The key began to flex when I applied counterclockwise pressure. Yikes Finally got it figured out, but it's still very stiff. Any suggestions to improve it? | ||

Anybody have an idea of whether or not it would be possible, without major hassle, to put a 9R tail and seat section onto a 9S? I really like the front end of the 9S but want the longer tail section of the 9R for better passenger and luggage capability. I know the fusebox of the 9S is under the seat but electrical problems don't worry me too much, I can handle those. Are there any frame problems that would be encountered where cutting/welding might be necessary? | ||

Norm, The first couple fill-ups on mine, the key didn't want to turn if all I did was turn it. But if I pushed down and turned it worked fine. I haven't noticed it in a while. Maybe I got used to it or maybe it has loosened up a bit. Anyway, try pushing down as you turn the key and see if that helps. I'm not talking put your weight into it, just use some downward pressure as you turn. Timbo | ||

Macncheese, You would need to use the 9R subframe, so no, no cutting involved. Just bolt up a 9R subframe w/tailsection. You may be able to fit the fuse boxes into the storage compartment within the 9R tail, but I'm not sure as I've not measured for that. If they fit it would be pretty clean looking and it would just be a matter of running wiring back to them. Although you would be giving up the small amount of stowage space, at least you would still have easy access to the fuses. Also, you would need to do some painting or else have a muticolored bike. You should get a copy of Battle2win that had the suspension setup guide written by shawn higbee. Maybe some one has an extra copy or can scan & copy it for you. | ||

Thanks to Ralphthe3rd's work, there is a new XB9S group on Yahoo. In the first day there are 6 members. Take a look and sign up if you want to talk things XB9S. Oh yeah, he assigned me as moderator. Guess he's still sore that I traded in the Blast for the Lightning. Yahoo XB9S Group I've updated my own website with some personal comparisons of the Blast and Lightning.
