Don't worry about purchaces - just kidding on that one (wife would kill me if you came home with two three hundred dollar bike covers).

Advice - that's what I'm short on :)

Thanks a million!

I went to the IMS Friday and didn't have nearly as much fun as i did last year. I think that's mostly due to the fact that I'm sick as a dog and wish I were dead. With that said... who owns the black M2 on display up on the second deck? You know the one... custom pegs, straightened bars, custom skull and crossbones embroidered on the seat? I know I've talked to you before, out at Alki for the superbike event. I want to know what kind of bars those are.

thanks, cj

Hello Everyone I'm back!!

And am I glad to be home. St Croix was not a good experience. Let's just say in true Hooligan fashion I managed to spread destruction and mayhem everywhere around me up until the point I got kicked out. Money is tight and I'm once again looking for a job. I do have some prospects however. I can't wait to go riding (I really need to go riding) My bike is at Bob's as he is trying to get it running. (Remember it quit before I left in September) I just spent the last hour reading all the posts in the archive and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Everybody have a Happy Merry Christmas

Paul Lusk

Ray
It will be a while before I have some extra cash, but will it be possible to get a shirt? I'm hopeful on the hair thing!

Paul: Glad to have you back! I've got a shirt reserved just for you. Thank you for asking. You are a charter member of the FOGG's and as such, you should have a shirt. Please try to be at The Swiss Tavern on Tuesday in a week and a half. Fifty USD for a size XXL.

I just got back from the IMS in Seattle and here’s my first impressions:

Lots of pretty young girls with HUGE cleavage! Well worth the price of admission.

Aprilia: The Tuono is UGLY. It might be the best bike in the whole wide world but it’s seriously ugly.

BMW: Weird. Every last one of them. Just weird!! Japanese engineers try to give you what you want. American engineers give you what they think you want. German engineers tell you what you want and then try to shove it down your throat. Weird bikes!

Buell: The XB9S Lightning is very very small! I’m a short guy and have short legs for my height (28” inseam) and when I first sat on the bike my butt hit the “step up” part of the seat. The Lightning would be a great second (or third) bike, but I wouldn’t trade my Triumph Sprint RS for one. If money were no object, I’d have a super clean 1998 S1W as a second bike and the new Lightning as a third bike. The “cheese greater” license plate holder wasn’t as bad as it looks in the pictures. I’d love to have one of these bikes but not for $10,000

Kawasaki: Speaking of license plate holders (and $10,000)…. The new Z-bike looks worse in person than in the magazines. The gold color mufflers (all 4 of them) would be the worst part of the bike if it wasn’t for the horrid license plate bracket. At $8,500 it isn’t all bad however.

Ducati 999: I might be the only guy in the country to say this, but I think it looks better in the magazines than in person. The new Monster 1000 would be cool if it weren’t for the 6,000 mile valve adjustments.

Honda: Did you see that RUNE? WOW! It’s not me, but it’s totally cool. It’s HUGE. It’s COOL! Other than that, ho hum.

KTM: I don’t think they were there. Anyway, I didn’t see the new 950 DUKE. Bummer. I was looking forward to seeing if it was as homely in person as the pictures would indicate.

Moto Guzzi: Pretty cool bunch of bikes. If I were looking for a new bike and I lived close to a dealer I’d consider one. Sort of like a tube frame Buell.

Suzuki: The new SV-1000 and SV-1000S were even better than I thought they would be. One or the other would be my next bike if I were buying a new bike right now. They are the right size with the right motor. The new aluminum frame is much better looking than I thought it would be. It looked like a high tech Buell.

Triumph: I hate 600cc bikes! I hate ‘um, I hate ‘um, I hate ‘um! That said, the new 600cc Daytona and the TT600 are the two best looking bikes in their class. The little Daytona looks like a U.S.A.F. Stealth fighter, way cool! My son has a Speed Triple and it seems more like Buell M2 than the M2 he used to have.

Yamaha: Ho Hum. Everything is perfect. Who friggin cares?

If you didn’t go to the show, you should have.

Hi all, Duane and I went to the show and it was.....................Ok.
Great to see our friends there.(Those were the Highlights for me.

Dan, I dont have you #!! give me a call and if I'm not home leave a message.
Storing the Bike for 3 years, OH GOD!

Change the oil, fill the fuel tank with fresh gas (full)and store the bike with no load on the suspension if possible. Motorcyclist had an article on this some time in the spring.

Mike, It was nice having you over. Give Cody a hug for me. That is one GREAT YOUNG MAN

Bob thanks for having us over for the night.
Cody, Nick, Eric and I had fun at the show. The best part of the show was that trials guy going up and down that waterfall. Best bike that I sat on was the ZX6RR. Ray you are right the Z1000 was ugly. Best bike to look at was that perfect piece of machinery upstairs with three cyliners. Too bad Benelli is slow to get the bikes built. Come to think of it it's strange all of these high dollar return from yesteryear bikes are being built. How many 20K bikes can these start ups sell in a soft economy. Maybe they should look at the demise of Bimota, Henderson etc.. Did you Triumph guys see that high pipe on the Speed Triple. I want one. Too bad it won't be available till next Spring. The worst part of the show was the mass sea of people. The kids and I called it quits by 1:30.
Nice to see you again Mike and Paul. Paul if Bob can locate the problem on your bike in the next couple of days there are some parts on ebay such as fuel pump, wire loom etc.. for cheap. Mike

What's with the XXL? Just because I was in the Carribean and drank lot and lots of cheap rum doesn't mean I gained weight! In fact I lost weight. Bet you didn't know it's possible to survive for two and a half months on nothing but rum did you? And you don't get board either...theres vanilla rum, and banana rum, and coconut rum, and pineapple rum, and spiced rum and....

Welcome back, Paul.
Bob and Duane, where the hell did you guys get to? Galen said ya'll would be in the beer gardens at 1:30. We were looking forward to a big piss-up and bench-racing/sassin' session.
That's OK. At 7 freaking dollars US!!!! for a pint of draft we wouldn't have got far.
Vancouver Motorcycle Show, in Abbotsford, 3rd week of January. Beer's half the price.
I felt the XB9R was too small for me when it came out. The XB9S is even worse, although it did have the effect of making the R seem more of a better fit. If I could have a third bike, for an afternoon rip, it might be fun. I will have to get one out for a test ride before I jump.
I've been lusting after the Tuono since I first saw the mag pics. The fancy CF one IS ugly, although I liked the plain Jane version, but I don't fit on it either, so now I don't have to worry about when they'll be up here. I like the Falco but you'd be forever being asked when you might be able to afford a Big Twin, I mean a Tuono. I agree with Ray that the SV1000 is the pick of the crop, excepting that sweet XLCR in the antique section.

I don't dare post this where any Texan's might notice, but I found an entertaining source of bumper stickers. It's pretty far left of center (even for ME!) If you're a fan of GW you probably shouldn't look at: http://www.gwbush.com/store/

IMS show....I second Mike's comment about the Xtreme demonstration, that was a 10. I also enjoyed seeing Mike almost pull Cody's ears off trying on a helmet that was too small!!!
I almost came away with a bmw heated vest but they wouldn't negate the sales tax (me being an Oregonian) so I'll save the $12 and get one here. Honestly I really didn't see anything I couldn't live without (except the Triumph wheel nut covers but they weren't selling them there).
Those people at the booths with the no fog stuff were damn annoying...I wanted to hurt a couple of them and I wasn't even wearing glasses.
Props to Triumph for the RAT member special portfolio...it's actually pretty cool.

Paul, I expressed myself poorly. Sorry.

I know what I meant, how come everybody else doesn't?

Let me try it again: I have a XXL shirt that isn't spoken for. Any other size would have to be ordered. Expect a 2-3 week delay.

Gootch and Eric, Duane fell ill during the show and needed to get outa there.
I really wanted to talk Splash! but there's still time. I would however like to get some things nailed down with you and may call you later this week.

I missed Galen also. Oh well, such is life!

In The Rain Forest, Bob

Ray,
Just kiddin man. Got a job today. I'm going to be working in Steelicum on the ferry. Looks like I won't have an excuse to miss the meetings in Tacaoma. What date is the next meeting?

Can you order me a size large shirt? Do you need money up front?

Can't wait to get the bike back for that two hour comute to Steelicum! (How do you spell that name?)

Paul: I chatted with the Graphic Artist that designed the shirts and she didn't know if we can order individual shirts or if they have to be ordered in lots of, say, ten. I'll know the answer in a day or two. --- Steilacoom ---

Mike: The high pipe on the silver 2003 Speed Triple @ IMS is a factory option. Two Brothers Racing has one that is highly recommended as well. I'm guessing that what ever works for a Speed 3 would also fit on your Daytona.
TBR Hi Pipe

BTW, we have a shirt for you. I'm sorry that I didn't get it to you this weekend, but it's here and it's good looking. It's you! I could order one for Kim & Paul and have them in 2-3 weeks. Let me know.

Ray I may see you guys sooner than later. I sure do like the TB pipe but I don't want to cut up and hack apart my tail section. The triumph piece needs no modifications to the bike other than maybe a heat disk on the bottom of the blinker to avoid meltdown. I should keep this bike stock for resale reasons. I do want the shirt.
The wildest thing I saw at the show Saturday was a little girl pushing a KDX50 down the aisles falling over and left the bike and walked away. No parent. No sales people even noticed. Could not believe my eyes. It was at least 20 yards from it's home. My next thought was I wonder if I could get out of the building with a WR250. Stu you piss me off. How much Canadian for one of those. Mike

Duane, I hope your feeling better, looking at those triumphs is enough to turn anyones stomach. (just kiddin, Bob,Mike,Deb,ect)
Mike, the WR250 rocks, it brings you up another level of dirt riding and riding the front or rear is a piece of cake. I just picked up a slightly used FMF pipe that needs a new muffler body. Can you believe FMF won't sell you this part. They sell just about everything else so if you drop your bike and dent the muffler they tell you to buy a new one, I'm havin one made out of stainless.
Deeley's House of Buell is currently building a fuel injected S1 race bike with absolutly no budget. We have the help of our dedicated customers who I can't thank enough. Kimberly and I will road race it and Dale our tech will ride it at the drags. We have just about everything except 54mm clip ons and a swingarm mount block. I need to find someone with a written off Buell who can help us, these swingarm blocks are $450cdn.
Bob, I can be reached at swells@trevdeeley.com regarding SPLASH support.

Mike, I'm not trying to talk you into anything, but.... The TBR pipe and muffler is a bolt on affair. No cutting or drilling. The dark color on the vertical part of the pipe is a reflection of the black body work, very shinny chrome actually.
