Kev's around here somewhere, as is NeilS. Dave, I'm considering Barber instead of RoadAmerica for CLASS this year. I'm sure RA is a better track for the FJR (and RA costs less), but Barber should give a better education. Maybe I ought to get an track bike (XB? SV?) ... |

DAve...Thank you very much for the pics but what's with all those matchbox motorcycles?...The Britten is unbelievably cool...I think it was "Motorcyclist" that did an article just recently on Barber and I think they had some guy named Schwantz (whatever?) along for the ride...First I thought it was Neil but then noticed the diff in the spelling...Schwartz, Schwantz, what's the difference?...Easy to mistake one for the other but I wouldn't want to insult Neil by comparing him to that other guy... Okay, so everything I've ever read or seen on Barber makes it sound like moto nirvana and now you tell us there is BBQ to boot...We'll have to set up a long weekend trip this Spring...Let me look at the mapping software a bit... See ya'all, Billy Bob |

Anyone interested in going to CLASS this year? http://classrides.com/calendar05/calendar.html I'll be at either Road America (June 5/6) or Barber (Oct 8/9) (or both if I can swing it). New tires, disconnected brake lights, taped or removed mirrors and decent riding gear is all you need. The Barber weekend is also NASCAR weekend and apparently rooms are already getting tight. Anyone got a camper I can borrow? |

What does http://www.mcraracing.com/ think of your site and name? I don't think I understand your post - you "never knew" yet "didn't know you were still here" but registered on this site this past Saturday? |

Hey Buellers, what's happening? I drove down to texas last weekend through Arkansas (HWY 7), HOLY COW! I had no idea what kind of motorcycle nirvana was so close to us. I'm taking my friends down as soon as the weather warms up to spend a couple days riding that area. I heard of 123, so I'll check that out too. BUT, the reason I'm posting is to find out if any of you have found comparable roads in Missouri closer to STL. Since this time of the year you gotta take short windows of opportunity, I thought I'd find out if there were some cool roads closer to home. Don't get me wrong, I've done many roads within 100 miles, but I'm just looking for some new ones I haven't been on. Arkansas, who knew? |

Ted...Did you guys know there was a long standing MCRA here in STL before going with that name?...You guys just may ruffle a few feathers...MCRA are the gals and guys who corner marshall at Gateway and elsewhere and a bunch of them ARE racers...They also run the track days at Gateway... Hey, we know where all the good roads are and there are quite a few closer than AR...But if we told ya then we'd have to kill ya!...Take a look at our Yahoo site at: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/MO-SIL-HSTA/ In the "Files" area there is a "Routes" folder that has a bunch of rides...Pay particular attention to P and DD highways south of Potosi...32 from DD over to Bigsby...KK from 32 down to TT...And a whole bunch more...Have your group join us...You'd be very welcome...We also have never been known to go hungry when we ride... You may want to give the MCRA guys a polite hello... Bob |

Hey Bob, thanks for the info, although I'm not sure about your reference to me and the MCRA. Maybe you had me confused with another poster (tigerman or Josh maybe). In any event, I do know the MCRA, as I'm a member! Yea baby, track days, christmas parties, etc. (although I haven't the pleasure of a xmas party yet). Look for the black/gold XB-12r at Gateway, that's me! I think I've done those roads you mentioned. I specifically remember 32, and isn't there an 8 close to that route? |

I ought to join MCRA, is there a touring class until I get a track bike? Yeah, Bob meant "Tony" |

Josh, of course there is a Touring Class! The beginners group rides behind a pace bike and they pick up the pace with each session. You won't get your "doors" blown off, and you can cruise around the track. I've seen touring bikes, cruisers, etc. out there. It's $20 to join MCRA, or you can wait until the Track Day advertisement comes out and sign up for your track day and membership. |

sorry didnt mean to ruffle any feathers with anyone just offering an invite. And no the site operator was not familiar with the mcra at that time (when he bought the domain name).I have been to a few events myself and all of the poker runs.I ride on the street not on the track just my preference.I believe the two groups are much different in the direction they are heading one geared more to the trackday events and one geared for the everyday joe street rider. The site is tring to offer another avenue for street riders to get info and group rides together in one place. And to clarify about my slab comment ,I had heard about the site three of four years ago did a search and couldnt find it .I just was looking at all the sites trying to find another bike and stumbled across this section. As far as the hello to mcra i believe neo (our site owner)has made a commment in your forums http://mcraracing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=443 thanks Tony |

Josh, In regards to the other thread about the S2 bars, who makes the aftermarket bars that are taller than the touring bars? |

Neil S. had them on his bike - I think he got them from American Sport Bike? I don't know who made them, and they were way too tall for me, but nice to have the option. |

Oh yeah me, I had the higher bars. American Sport Bike had them and I had the "bar" part made an inch longer so I could have MORE choices. (Actually I cut off some of it.) I think I remember Josh saying something about "Ape-hangers" not belonging on a Buell! Time2Work Neil |

John, I've got a question for you. Noticed my speedometer died this morning and found a quote of yours. quote:My speedometer cable seems to go out about every 20,000 miles on my 97 S3T. I just use the inner core from a sportster to replace the broken one from my bike.
I'll have to wait until later to pull it off, but, the core you mention, just ask for a Sportster one of the same vintage? Also, while I've got you, is that a C type clamp that holds it in place by the wheel (need better light than what's in the parking garage)? Believe I also need to see if there's a tab broken, from what I understand.
thanks, Steve |

Steve, I have had both the tab and the cable break at different times. Yep, just regular HD sportster items. The part that mounts to the wheel with the tab can be had from aftermarket sources too. Imported, much cheaper than the stock HD item and seems to last just as long. In regards to the cable, I just took the old one out and matched it up for length with one at the HD parts counter. It may be available from aftermarket sources too. Hey, is your site just down or gone for good? John John |

Hey John, Thanks for the info.. I'll dig into it soon. The site's been down for awhile -- think I stopped updating it before the 9sx, then the plug was finally pulled.. It may make a comeback, but there's no rush.
thanks again, Steve |
