My thoughts are that are we going to see more HP?? I think we will. With the EPA making it so the dealers can't put pipes and change the emissions equipment on bikes it return will force the hands of the Manufactures to up the anny on performance. But to see 1350cc's I don't think Buell will do on the account that they are already having problems with insurance companies and us the consumers buying the product and affording it. |

I love the XB line and hope it doesn't change much (if at all) in the near future. Yeah theres some tweaks I would make here and there and horsepower is probably one of them... but 5 years isn't THAT long! |

That's a good point Dana P. The insurance situation in many States (including NC) is very bad. The only way to get cheap insurance is to carry liability, fire, and theft only and that won't work for most folks who have to finance a bike purchase. |

I'm a guy thats about to turn 38 so a 1350 doesn't bother me to much on the insurance side of things but to new prospective buyers with the slightest flaw on there record and maybe being the age of 22 or so. Plenty of power to be made still in 12 motor. I say let it be untapped. Al seems to be finding some of the hidden power at this very moment. |

"I've got a 1350cc 120RWHP S-2 on the way, but not from the factory.....it's coming from a secret undisclosed location." Secret? I thought it was an 88" and was coming from NRHS. Some secret. FYI, Vallejo, home of Buelldynoguy and all around swell dude, Terry Parsley, has come on board as a BadWeB sponsor. Just waiting on their art department to put up their banner ads. |

"The rwhp is supposed to be 115hp which would make the XB an incredible ride." that is an accurate statement™ "motor has with some upgrades and an increase in displacement" why wait until '07 ? can't believe Blake said the "N" word! That place rocks! |

Dana, I'm 44, perfect record, professional. Full coverage for me on an XB is about $1,200/yr (and that's after shopping around one quote was $2,500/yr). Go Figure. |

Who would want 115hp, that wouldn't make a bike any faster. I have ridden Shazam's it is a dog. The only way to get a faster more powerful Buell is to buy YELLOW!!! PS the white ones are the slowest no matter how much you modify the motor.

Hmmm.. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1200 XB-R with a few minor tweaks to give it a 9R like RPM range this would change the power curve, perhaps installed in the longer 'SS' frame with body work more like the XBRR. This would make the machine more aerodynamic and that in and of itself should give it more speed. The larger frame gives you more range and allows better two up comfort. Hey, they could even designate it the XBRS. Perhaps call it a Thunderbolt or a Cyclone? After all, the old names are still really good ones. So there's a couple of cents worth from me. |

WOW $1200 a year at 44? I don't pay that for both Buells, both cars, AND my homeowners combined |

Try $1550/year for a 1996 S2 and a 1999 SV650 - yep, that hurt ... |

I am in central california and pay about $1300 a year not to bad for full coverage. Comments on the hp department. I have 06 xb 12ss, love the ergos, brakes and handling BUUTTTT THE MOTOR is another story. Hp to dollar value just is not there compared to other bikes on the market, i.e. rice rockets, the buell motor is way behind the times. Do not get me wrong I would buy my xb again but buells would appeal to more riders out there if it were to offer increased power in there powerplants. 95 to 100 hp in the 12 is realistic for around $700 to $1500 but anything after that is big big dollars. IS HARLEY HOLDING ERIK BUELL BACK???? |

~$600/Yr. 28, "fairly" clean record. All the really stupid ones I've been let off of (115 in a 35, 80 in a 25... Both were in my truck though). Mountain roads will be the bane of my license... Dairyland through "Fernet Insurance". Tell them that Don from Arizona sent you. It turns up in google. Give em a shot. |

I pay $1200 a year, to fully insure BOTH bikes. I'm 34, clean record for 10 years. Dairyland wanted $1500 for just ONE bike. |

"Hp to dollar value just is not there compared to other bikes on the market," Which is important if the major criteria for purchasing a motorcycle is peak HP. If instead one's major criteria is low revving performance, efficiency, simplicity, ease and cost of maintenance, well, you get the picture, ADVANTAGE BUELL! |

In all honesty the R1,Gsxr 1000,ZX10 and CBR1000 would be cheaper for me to insure. Boy is that strange but true. |

I think many early XB's were totalled out for minor frame dings which resulted in insurance companies red flagging them. If I finance a bike, I definately take the cost on insurance into the decision of which bike I buy. It is in Buell's best interest to lobby/educate insurance companies regarding the true (low) cost of repairing the XB's. I think that putting frame pucks and sliders on at the factory would have a BIG impact on reducing repair estimates with little cost to the factory or consumer. |

29, clean record, With Brag Discount, Multibike discount, winter discount, full year on 2 bike (05XB12S, 98 Suzuki marauder), comp & coll. is $390/yr (down from the $2600/yr my last insurance company wanted). |

I'm 25 and I have a clean record. I pay about $50 a month for full coverage and $15 a month during the winter for comprhensive (theft or destruction) coverage. I was paying a lot more than that in Chicago, but I managed to get a good rate with Liberty Mutual here in Kansas City. My car insurance went up when I moved and my bike insurance went down. Insurance companies are crazy and a rip off. I hate paying money every month for insurance, but I'll be glad I did if anything ever happens. As for the 1350 cc engine, I can't think it would change the rates that much. I think the big cut off is 1000 cc with most insurance companies, so the 9s are much better than the 12s but I don't think a 1350 would be much different than a 12. BTW, I don't think they'll be changing the engines much anyway. Part of the draw to Buell is to experience the technologically advanced chassis and handling with an old school V-twin under you. If I was looking for a smooth as silk engine I wouldn't have went with a Buell to begin with. I was more concerned with usuable power and the handling of these machines. Only Erik really knows where the Buell line is headed, and if you look at where it has been since he started I think we can all agree that we are in good hands. ok I will chime in. I am paying $238.00 a year full coverage on the XB9R through Farmers. If your record is good and you have a auto you should look at going with Farmers or Allstate to get motorcycle insurance cheaper. Its a package deal. |

I am curious though with all this talk about more power. I would have to agree if Buell wants to sell more bikes it need to make more power. Just changing the trans and frame doesn't do it. Remember change is always good but HP sales. Sorry guys but even BMW new bike the R1200S is putting out more power up from 98hp and 70ft-lbs. to 122 hp at 8250rpm, torque 83ft-lbs at 6800rpm the crank and it lost a few pounds, around 29 pds from last year model. I am not a big BMW fan but this new R1200S is starting to look good... So if Buell could drop 10 to 15 pds(which would be easy) and at 10hp and make it a single sided swingarm that would be a start and it needs a higher rev range. If BMW can do it. Why can't Buell???? |

A single sided swingarm would save a lot of belts being fugged up in tire changes - but would it be strong enough / still allow for the oil res. ? |

RD; having witnessed a bit of BMW's "Creative" marketing in the past, I'm just a bit distrustful of any claims they make. Has anyone dyno'd an R1200S to see what the real numbers are? |

Single sided swing arms are nice looking, but are not as strong as a conventional design of equal mass. We do not want a huge lump of unsprung mass on the back end of our bikes. At least not if you enjoy the handling characteristics of your Buell. Besides, either an update to an 06+/Uly belt, or a chain drive conversion will solve the belt damage problem. |

that was a sharp turn there. from 2007 model horsepower speculation into regional insurance quotes, and then swerving into single sided swingarms. "OWN THE CURVES" |

used to own a bmw r110sa with full remus exhaust bbp chip.. nice smooth power but no torque and poor fuel milage. suspension is AWESOME with ohlins shocks butter smooth and very little nose dive on braking. I like torque and simple bikes--- so i went back to buell x1. but i do miss ohlins shocks and the no dive braking |
