Author Message   Rick_A Posted on Monday, August 12, 2002 - 11:44 pm:        Welp, I got this dandy new cover with my isolator kit, and thought I'd do a little trim job on 'er and give it a whirl on the 'ol S1. This plastic is fairly flexible and I could not get it to polish well in cut areas. Oh well, it still looks pretty good, me thinks. I'm running a Force exhaust so I'm pretty sure it will be a major issue. Especially since I live in south Florida. Hmmmm, live and learn. By the way, anyone have a chin fairing in Billet? Well, I live on an overpopulated island that is 8 miles long, 4 miles wide. Probably 10,00 drunken, scooter(50cc type) riding tourists on any given day, bad roads, and bad traffic. I had some made in a Chrome (effect) foil in an Italic font and they are excellent. I also had a set made in White that I haven't used yet. I had them made as "one offs" so that, along with my "one off" paint, job they are that little bit different to the stock items. Good luck. steve@ukbeg.com   Ara Posted on Sunday, September 08, 2002 - 08:45 am:        Yesteday I had new fuel tank put on my 1997 S3 under the "Bubbling Tank Letters Goodwill Factory Replacement Program." Believe it or not, the dealer said he tried and couldn't get Buell CS to agree to it and actually asked me to call. I called CS and had no problem at all. They charged me $50 in labor to install it - wouldn't let me install the thing myself. It came with a new petcock!   Dave Posted on Monday, September 09, 2002 - 07:06 am:        Received a 'new' snap red fender for my '95 S2. It doesn't appear to be an S2 fender but rather an S3 fender. It's made of plastic, it's missing the speedo clip holes, and it's not contoured the same. Anyone else experience this or know if the S2 fenders are obsolete? I'm hoping it's a dealership goof. DAve   Toad Posted on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 - 09:36 pm:        I have a 98 M2, that I hate the seat. Is there anyway to replace the 98 tail section with a 99 and newer, or even a S2 or S3. That would give me a larger selection of seats. Someone told me that Battle2Win did a article on such a switch a few years back. Does anyone have the article or know how to get old issues?   Blake Posted on Thursday, September 26, 2002 - 05:40 pm:        Toad, Yes, a '99-'02 M2 tail section/seat will bolt on okay. You might need to do a little trimming to open access to the fuse block. I see the '99+ M2 tail sections for sale on ebay quite often. I saw a picture on the site and noticed the frame tubing showing on the back end. Has anyone ever done this without the frame showing? It's even called for in the owners manual.   Ccryder Posted on Monday, September 30, 2002 - 10:07 pm:        5liter: Buell and PM may recommend Mothers, but I feel it is too harsh and abrasive. Either Simichrome, Denova, or similar compounds that do not have abrasives are better. When I had my PM's on my S3 I could usually count on an hour per wheel for cleanup and make pretty. They can be real pretty, but it sure is nice to spend 10 min. on my white powder-coated wheels and be ready to ride in style. BTW on my X-1 I have polished: swingarm, tailsection, derby cover, footpegs, shifter, and brake. I hit them with some diluted Simple Green & water to get the crud off. Nice looking when shiney but it looks like a lot of work to keep them that way.
