Well, it's Saturday morning and Deb and I are lazy to say the least!
We had a great Thanksgiving and Deb spent the day shopping with her mom while me and Pa held down the Fort!

We didn't even get into trouble this year!

How is every one? Fingers are all brike I guess.

we're jes' fine here, cuz -- got a little rain overnight, and i can see a fresh dusting of snow in the mountains above us, making me think a winter project is in order, so.......

.......don't go havin' a heart attack or nuthin', but i actually laid a wrench on the BLURR last night.

looks like i'm gonna attempt the engine rebuild myself (can't afford to send it out), and FMJ and Gordon Buhle have offered up some major engine parts from their extensive Thunderbolt take-off inventories.

wish me luck!

Good deal Cuz!
Getting the ole blurr back to race/ride spec, is Spec-Tackle-r!

Good thing I took that creative spellin course.

I wish I had some parts I'd gladly pass them on. The good news is that there are Bastar....oops, good guy's like Fireman Jim and Gordon Buhle.

How did the engine cases fair? and whats the parts list of needed items?. Buellnuts@harbornet.com

Sometimes you need not be a magician to pull a rabbit out of a hat!

Good new's and good wrenching!

How did the engine cases fair? and whats the parts list of needed items?

unsure, and unsure.

the engine's been outta the bike forever, but i'm only now just starting to dive inside.

when the oil pump drive gear fragged (after the oil pump seized because it tried to ingest a piece of wrist-pin clip), i know a bunch of mad, malicious metal made it into the lower end.

will let you know more when i get in there.

hey, don't Triumphs ever have any frikkin' problems??? ;)

"hey, don't Triumphs ever have any frikkin' problems???"

I should say they do! Right now my Sprint RS is out in the garage worried sick about the Mid East crises. It feels really bad about social injustice and mans inhumanity to man. The slow economy is troubling and it spends most of its free time praying for world piece. The fire in Hinkley last year still causes a flat spot in its torque curve and the Italian competition is enough to give a good bike a dry chain. You think Buell’s got problems…. Hah!

Not only is Triumph a better bike in every quantifiable way but it has a far more advanced social conscience as well.

Don't Triumphs ever have problems?
The only complaint I've heard is from Bob.
The dyno says that Deb's Speed 3 makes a lot more power than his ST.
And then there's the chain thing. A few times last summer I found myself in group Triumphs and all I could hear was the archaic mashing of link to sprocket. I couldn't even hear my Buell's modern valve train at work.

Is Triumph going to build the RS.S ?
I'm saving a spot in the garage if they do.

Yes, when I get back to work I may have to wage a Horse Power War with Deb. The plan so far is to get a 03 Daytona.

The RS.S would be an option though but who know's how long untill it's reality.

Chains: Well, what can I say, they are noisey some times but thought's of breaking belts arent a lump in the back of my brain. Current Chain technology offers chains that can last 40,000 miles. I've got 18,000 on mine and it shows no sign of wear.

Mike, I'll call you Monday., Thing's were busy this weekend.

Belts vs chains...

I have found that belts only break on the street during holiday weekends when you are at least 600 miles from home or a dealer...

i.e.
the Oregon coast on July 4th weekend (nearest belt in San Francisco)

the California side of Grants Pass on memorial day weekend

On the track, they only break at sir coming out of the bus stop in front of a full grandstand .

Buells do coast really well with no belt, but not up hill.

Broken belts can be used to tow a buell by another buell up a steep mountain pass to the nearest rest area .

a U haul can be used for long distances as You make the rounds of HD dealers trying to find a belt.

I have heard a rumor that belts can be changed in the back of a pick up with a crow bar , but this I have not tried.

chains are noisy and have to be greased. bummer

Hi ya Mike, that was too funny!

How about $500 to fix a M2 belt that broke 50 miles out of Las Vegas. (Did you get that? $500 freaking U.S. dollars! Holy manna, Bat Man) Lyle and I know for sure that a belt can be changed in a garage with a 4 foot crow bar. Not for the faint of heart though, kind of like doing open heart surgery on your best friend with a chain saw. All things considered, a chain isn't so bad. Sporty Eric posted on a different thread that his muffler (or lack of same) is MUCH louder than a dozen chains.

Hey. Make them do their own surfing, Ray. BTW, do you read every thread on the Badweb? I see you everywhere. Not that that's a bad thing! Looking forward to seeing you at the IMS.

Nice to talk again Eric G.. It will be good to have company on Saturday. Everyone seems to be going on Sunday to IMS.
The Daytona went to the shop today for the rear wheel bearing recall. I believe it just would not be possible to own just one vehicle without some sort of defect. Thats life.
Bob when are you going to post some more about Splash? Secret to big? Mike

To make a long story short it seems while my bike was at the shop the friendly service man got a photo radar ticket riding my bike. It gets better since it was only double the posted speed limit. Nice test ride jerk off. Nothing better to do then fix this crap. Mike

Mike, you won't be alone Saturday at the IMS. The Sunset Thunder Club will be boarding AmTrack Friday evening for a weekend assult on the Emerald City.
We'll be at the show most of the day Saturday then out for dinner and a drink or two or more.
We've reserved a block of rooms near the site, I think a couple are still open. I'll post whats available after we hear from Michael George.

Chris, i'm doing the IMS this weekend in Long Beach, CA, the first one i've been to since the halcyon days of organizing Buell rides on cold, icy, sanded/salted streets for the Seattle IMS.

when this show gets up your way (if the Siskiyou's are open...), look for the XB9S Lightning demo-bike with "Ferris was here" key-carved somewhere near the filler cap.
