We were talking about those bikes a while back. I believe they've been doing the muffler under the bike for many years now, but that is not what I found most interesting about the bike. Did you notice the lack of forks? Or how about the rear swingarm on the front of the bike too? Very neat ideas went into that thing. I wonder how it handles. I noticed that with the front end too, how does it turn at low speeds? do the sides of the swing arm move independently to turn the wheel? | ||

Did you notice it weighs only 340 pounds?!!!! A little bulky looking up front. The need to get a drummer on that things as the muffler looks like an afterthought! I would own it though. I love my Buell but I like different! | ||

The original Tesi had a similar layout that was made 1990-94. But it had a standard exhaust setup, so it was junk.  | ||

I've seen it in the flesh. It's hard to get this over to anyone. More so those that like it. That pic, or any pic you'll ever see, do not do it justice. In the flesh it is simply outrageously stunning! Center Hub Steering didn't work on the track. Elf Honda tried for several years with Ron Haslam as pilot, but even they gave up in the end. I saw one at the New York IMS show. It was a true thing of beauty. I've only seen a few Bimotas, and they were all works of art. Italian Craftsmanship at its finest. The Tesi is available for a mere $59,000. If I ever win the Mega lottery, I'll own one. | ||

We are hoping to have an official Bimota entry with one of these in this year's UK Thunderbike championship, although they have already admitted that they will struggle to meet the weight/power restrictions. I hope they make it, as it will certainly bring some glamour with it As for the front exit muffler, we will be using this on our Thunderbike racer this year, and we now have a slip on 'street' version available that fits onto the stock Buell headers. Longer header pipe length means that the pipe can be 'tuned' for better top end performance, rather than having to fit into the constraints of the underslung exhaust system. It is another way of achieving the longer header length such as the XBRR has, without having the complicated routing of the pipes to fit into the small package available. This is in no way a criticism of the XBRR pipes by the way!! On the race setup you can see that the intermediate pipe between the headers and silencer is actually reverse tapered into a slight megaphone shape, this is again to get the most peak power. I don't profess to understand all the physics of it, but I do know these work.   The street version also looks very cool, which is always an advantage | ||

"I don't profess to understand all the physics of it, but I do know these work. " Well I do profess to, and the longer the pipe the lower the frequency at which it tunes. So if it works, then my guess is that it helps broaden the torque curve by boosting the mid range. |
