Today i took off the decals off my airbox. After washing it I noticed that i scuffed it to the poiont where the polish is virtually rubbed off. Is there any way to get back that polished look? Can I use a spray paint polisher? | ||

Novus 3, then 2, then harley sealer glaze worked very well for a badly damaged 9xs cover (clear). Don't know if it would work for the Surlyn stuff or not, but I bet it would. | ||

I took the decals off my lid last week. I can see where the decals were but I'm unsure if the rest will polish that far. I might consider trading my black clean lid for a scratched one and cash. NUTS | ||

It depends what color your lid is and how scratched. I can send pics if you'd like. I'm sure shipping is going to be at least $20 too. A new lid is $200 plus. Depending on condition I'd say your lid plus $75. I'm trying to cover the cost of the Line-x which is how much I was quoted locally for the tank lid. Jason | ||

Nutsosane- If it does not work out with Boisebuelly, I have a black cover with minor scratches (probably would buff out with the Novus) the rest in good shape. I traded my 9S in for a 9R that is the blue streak color. I had the black one on my city X, and took it off before I traded it and put the blue one back on. | ||

Boise, I had a crash in a corner a few months ago, and I gouged a section of the lid and the tail on my blue 9R. I sanded it out and then buffed with some buffing wheels for my drill that I bought at Sears. They came with some sticks of buffing compound, and I tried them all until I found the one that worked. I was able to get it back to almost original finish. From more than a foot away, one would not be able to tell it had been crashed. Give that a try if you decide to keep the lid. Just be careful not to keep the drill on the same spot at a high speed too long. The plastic becomes cloudy if it heats up too much. | ||
