Finally answered it once and for all. Picked up a set of subframes, and mocked it up. The Ss frame has much wider mounting points for the top hole. They measured up insanely close off the bike, but it's a no go. Major bummer too. I was really looking forward to the short tail look a la Hellbender. On a brighter note, I got my Rizoma grips installed finally and threw on a Free Spirits pulley cover and their Rear Sets(GP shifting) Everything looks and works great. Here are a couple crappy pics from outside... back to the drawing board...Maybe give Wes the go ahead on that 90"er! |

Also, in case anyone wants to know. All these parts were gotten from Matt at Trojan. Thanks for great service Matt. TK |

Bummer Tom. She's looking sweet with the new parts though. What you want for the side rails you can't use now?!?! I'll try to call you later..... |

Tommy, did you shorten your Renthal's? I have a set on the way and you are the only cat that I know of that has them installed. NUTS |

Hi Tom, glad you like the parts I have just fitted a road race seat subframe from an XBR model to the frame from our Ulysses (same as the XBSS) and found the same thing. Fortunately there was enough meat on the subframe to grind away 1/4" either side and make it fit. It might be worth seeing if there is enough on the side rails you have to do this? |

thats what i was going to say mostly trojan. i would think there would be a minor fix to adjust it. grind or tweek the top mounts out alittle bit and rebend if it is really that small of a difference |

Odie, Thanks...talk to you later. Nuts, No, didn't shorten them any. I do have my controls mounted inboard enough to mount the CRG's directly to the bar. It's a great bar, the ultralow, I really like the feel. Matt, I'll check that out. Not sure if it'll leave enough left on there for me to feel safe. Now if only I had a tig welder and knew how to use it. Also, the rear shock/lines are different. If I did mount up the subframes, the shock line would have to be lengthened at least. Not sure if rotating the shock 180* to get the outlet in the correct location to lead to the res. mount in the S tray would do it. Food for thought. Tom |

Tommy, could I ask you a favour please? Can you measure the length of your rear shock from the centre of the top mount to the centre of the bottom mount. It doesn't have to be millimetre perfect, I just want to compare the SS shock length with the stock S out of interest. Thanks |

Matt, 13 5/8" Sorry, I didn't have a metric ruler long enough. Let me know how it measures up. If similar, we may be able to just swap shocks, and dial up the preload and compression a bit to handle the extra load from added leverage. I'm going to look into grinding down, and re-drilling the subframe. My bike is too torn apart to just give up without a fight. Too bad Paul Jr. isn't next door... Tom |

a machine shop should be able to mill your sub-frame down to the dimensions you want very easily. It would leave a nice square mating surface with the frame. |

More than just getting the subframes to fit, seems possible with machining, it's going to be real tight on space..and it seems the long has a bit more of thick wiring harness and mess to cram in there. May have to shorten that, plus switch shocks...plus etc. Bottom line, BIG job. TK |
