To any and all that are mechanically inclined: I've had my Firebolt for a little over a month. New 06 XB12. I followed the break in instructions to the letter, speed, revs etc. So I just got my bike back from the dealer after its first 1000 mile service. My bike is idling at over 1000 rpm and after I ride it for a while (30 miles is my usual commute) its idling at 1500 rpms! It didnt do that before. What gives? Im taking it back tomorrow to get looked at. Is there anything I could do to address this?? Note - The oil was replaced with synthetic oil. not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks! |

Possibly, the TPS reset could be a problem area. Others might have more insight |

Yup...adjust the idle not TPS. If you don't know where the idle is just look at the inner edge of your air scoop. You will see a flexible tube with an allen head in the center. (not sure the size). Small turns! |

It's the idle. The almost certainly adjusted it before letting it warm up. |

HD techs usually set my idle at or below 900 after service, looks like they got a little closer on yours I always have to readjust after she's been in the shop. BS is right, just turn the adjuster ever so slightly to get the proper idle (~1050) again. its VERY sensitive. |

The XB motor should idle between 1050-1150 rpm. It's tough to get right at that point. I find mine jumps around a bit. You won't see it on the tach, but I see the exact RPMs when it's hooked to my laptop. |

3/16 " allen wrench, if it's too tight to turn with finger pressure. there is a data link under the seat, with which the bike's computer may interface with your computer. Technoresearch make a device to interface. |

Go for a 15 mile ride, let idle on side stand, then using a 3/16" long ball end allen socket, adjust idle to 1000 to 1100 RPM. Unless you have a problem with hung engine revving, the TPS should be OK. If not, inquire with the servicing dealer if the adjustment was done, as it is part of the initial 1000 mile service. Chris |

I just had the exact same problem except mine was idling closer to 2K. I took it back to the dealership and they said it was the TPS. Hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow and test it out. |
