Got a 7x10 lathe for Xmas - so today I made front exhaust isolators from hockey pucks. Regulation pucks are 3" dia X 1" thick (+/- 1/64) and flat to with-in 1/100" - and cost under $1 CDN. Standard black pucks are about the stiffness of a car tire (durometer 65), and weigh 6 oz. Blue (junior) pucks weigh 4 oz (and are slightly softer), while brown pucks (practice) are 10 oz. I turned down hollow brass lamp rod to insert in the isolator. Will have to see how they last...

"...make me a set ?"
Send me your address via email. I made the edges on mine quite thick, this may not work with other mufflers? So, let me know how thick you want the outside edges. I think I will also groove the bushing to make them slightly more resilient. I have the old style front mount (not the Y mount) - so if your's is different send me dimensions...

(I put bushings in the oven at 375F for 20 mins without any melting)
John

John - Congratulations on the new toy. Machine tools are addicting. I'm just finishing up an A.S. Degree as a Machinist at the local CC and wondering how to swing a shop full of toys. Would really like a CNC mill - to make toys for my Buell.

Great sourcing on the material. Now I can rationalize my wandering through hardware stores just looking - maybe there will be a day when I need to make something and I'll remember seeing something that "just might work". Maybe next time I'll wander through the sporting goods store also.

Have fun making chips.

Glenn
